The team was based on recommendations of the AP football board of sports writers anc sportscasters, who also votec weekly on the Top Ten teams. The 19G6 team is a mammoth one, with Smith at 268 the largest, but it also includes Frank Loria of Virginia Tech, 175- pound junior defensive back. Next smallest is Ray Perkins, Alabama's 184-pound offensive end. Alabama placed a second man on the team in the person of Cecil Dowdy, offensive lack le. Nebraska also had two on Uie first team: LaVerne Allers, Sports Briefs LONDON Wilcox of WiHiamspart, sprinted Fran 13th to first place Wednesday in the IntornatiionaJ Masters Bowling Tounvamcnit.

After 14 rounds, Wilcox had 19 victories and nine tosses. He knocked down pints for an average of 105. Lock Haven (1-0) is at State College on the mats, the only grappling action involving area schools. BEN and Mifflinburg each sport 1-1 pre-league records, but the Panthers go again al partial strength, with junior guard Mike Myers missing because of a hand injury. Dick Daubermsn (17.5), Tom Eisenhower (14.0) and Steve Miller (10.0) pace the Panthers. The Wildcats have a gcnxi backoourt combination in 5-1C senior Mike Herman and 5-10 junior Scott Klingman along with a strong center in 6-3 senior Joe Sharp. They're a veteran crew.

The Bobcat cagers (2-1) will face a towering senior-studded team in Philipsburg (1-1), one that lists 6-6 Paul Yastro, 6-2 Merle Ammerman, Paul Guelich, Dan Earner and 511 Harry Townsend back from last year. Impressive juniors also have height in 6-3 Stan Wawrynovic and Scott Milsom. The Bobcats are led by Ron Kodish (26.3), Steve Caruso (12:7) and Jim Gi'llock (11.3), but Bob Henry and Don Bowes have started to make it a five- man team. Ross Reminisces Sports Pasts of Ferguson, Chuck Osborne Recollected By NEVEL Express Sports Statistician Tim Ferguso.i. Lock Haven State graduate, was an outstanding football and basketball player at the heal college for Following graduation he taught at North Fayette Junior School. Then in 1928 he became connected with the Williamsport school system.

Tim first taught and helped coach basketball at Curtin Junior High for 14 years. He thsn moved to an elementary school in Williamsport. In 1955 he became principal of the Lose Elementary School, continuing in this position until retirement in 1966. Mr. Ferguson's first wife died.

He is now married to the former Ella Forcey, LBSC graduate in 1925. They live at 423 Hawthone Williamsport. He has two children by his first wife. Chuck Osborne narticipated in three sports at Lock Haven High. He played football, basketball and baseball in On the baseball field Chuck was a standout in Little League, Junior League and American Legion play.

He also played in the Clinton and Central leagues. Chuck, who still keeps in trim playing tennis, works at the local post office. He is married to the former Joy Harrau and they have a daughter, Nicole 2, who was born on her father's birthday. Bill Smith, athletic director of the San Francisco Olympic Club, has been named coach of the United States Freestyle wrestling 'team for the 1968 Olympics. Tom Evans, University of Oklahoma wrestling coach, was named Greco-Roman coach of the U.S.

Art McCloskey, of Lock Haven remembers watching the great Central State Normal School (Lock Haven State) football teams of the 1905-10 era. He recalls one game when Dave Thomas, Sr. and Bob Peck, who later was an AH American at Pitt, were outstanding all afternoon.

Art remembers one in particular when Peck came barreling through the line and all of a sudden leaped 'over three opposing players, but he didn't quite make it, and came down on top of them. For a moment it looked like Peck had driven all three of the oposition into the ground.
