Walkers and wagon riders were Mr. and Mrs. Warne Linton; Mr. and Mrs.

Ray Cox of Manti and members of their family including Loralie Platero and children; Susanna, Mike and Edward Geary of Provo; Perry, Ginette an Julie Bunderson; Kathryn and Janell Seely; Pam and Brett Jeffs; Rhett Swasey; Jo Anderson; Dixie Swasey; Lee Rasmussen; and Ed Wingate. Beginning at the Red Seeps and following the exact route of the trail in a westerly direction, this caravan arrived at the Huntington Creek crossing, where they had a noon stop and enjoyed elk stew. Perry and Ginette Bunderson furnished the elk. Cooks were Vemell andKathaleen Rowley, Dixie Swasey, Sylvia Nelson, Delta Howard, Merlin and Jean Christiansen, Loralie Platero, JoAnn Behling, Lee Rasmussen and Ed Wingate. Enroute the wagon train was attacked by a band of desperate outlaws, under the direction of Wild Moose Platero, who was riding his steed, Scarr.

His sidekicks were the notorious Don Bennett on Major, Jason Bennett on Dusty and John Donnelly on Lightning. These bloodthirsty highwaymen pulled a reverse on their trembling victims and handed over gold nugget candy to all the children. And then, in a cloud of flying horse manure, they vanished into the setting sun. In order to cross the Huntington Creek with the wagons, the adventurers had to do exactly what the early wagon travelers did, i.e., they had to use shovels and dig down the bank of the river. A I ter i er ey continued in a southwesterly direction over a blue ridge, traveling three and one-half miles until they came to Cottonwood Creek.

A little bonus of excitement was enjoyed here as the result of a beaver dam. It was built just below the crossing, so it had the water backed up belly deep on the horses and axle deep on the wagons. However, they made the crossing without mishap. Norman Wright had an odometer, the kind that was used during the cavalry days. jttooneofthe rear wheels of Don Clements wagon, and he measured the distance traveled, which was seven miles.

It was fascinating to have an authentic wagon odometer along on the journey. The journey ended at old Wilsonville, which now is part of the Jorgensen brothers ranch.
