"We have enclosed a photograph of a Victorian armchair we just rescued from the barn." — Mr. and Mrs. W.D., Mobile, Ala. A. Twenty years ago your Renaissance Revival armchair could be purchased for $20 at the neighborhood thrift shop, but alas, that day is gone forever, This mid-Victorian furniture, characterized by stiff and heavy outlines, areas of burl veneers and applied and carved ornaments of trophy swags, flowers, medallions and fruit, is enjoying a revival. Even those who stated it was unsightly and uncomfortable are taking a second look! Nowadays one of these super sitters in fine condition sells for a respectable $250 to $300! Q. "My favorite flea market find is any campaign item relating to Franklin D. Roosevelt." — Harry, Tucson, Ariz. A. Based on a survey of current prices, it appears that political campaign collectors have given FDR mementos a vote of confidence! Value guide: button, Roosevelt- Garner, $8; button, "Third Term Club," Roosevelt, 1940, $6; delegate button, FDR, satin rosette trim, red, white and blue streamer, $225; campaign poster, FDR, 1936, 34 inches by 16 inches, $25; mug, FDR, "The New Deal," pottery, 4 inches tall, $30; FDR silk window banner, Renaiisance Revival Armchair, Circa 1870 "God Bless America," $6. Q. "I recently acquired a bowl in Buffalo Pottery, Deldare Ware." — Martha, Bristol, Pa. A. The hunt continues for desirable Deldare produced primarily between 1908 and 1909 and 1923 to 1925 by the Buffalo Pottery of Buffalo, N.Y. Emerald Deldare was introduced in 1911. Every piece of Deldare, with its solid-olive colored green body, was skillfully hand-decorated over a transfer print. Decorative motifs were Ye Olden Days, Fallowfield Hunt, Ye Lion Inn and Dr. Syntax. Attribution is possible, for each piece bore a version of the firm's famed Buffalo trademark, decorator's signature and the date. Those who shuffle after Buffalo Pottery, admire and acquire Deldare Ware! Value guide: bowl, "Ye Lion Inn," 8 inches diameter, $140. Q. "We own a mint condition copy of The Swallows record 'Since You've Been Away'." — Nan and Pete, Clearwater, Fla. A. Converting discs into dollars becomes a reality with this 45 r.p.m. on the King label. The Swallows are well known lo rhythm and blues record buffs who seek many of their hits of the 50s. "Since You've Been Away," King 4466, is a true oldie but goodie, and locating a copy in mint condition for under $150 is indeed a groovy deal!
