Telegram Photo Sears, Roebuck and (Jo. is continuing its efforts to locate the owners of the 2,100 hand and foot whirlpool baths sold through Sears catalog and retail outlets since Sept. 15 because of a potential shock hazard. Jim Davis, manager of Sears, 601 N. Main, said the manufacturers of the compact whirlpool baths have discovered during routine testing that the plastic motor housing could develop a leak, allowing water to make contact with the motor which could pose an electrical shock hazard. Owners of the affected compact whirlpool baths, model number 638.2262 with dale codes C97, D97, E97, C97, D977, andE977, should contact their nearest Sears outlet for replacement or refund. The model number is found on a metal plate on the front of the motor housing. The 2,100 affected whirlpool baths were manufactured by Dazey Products Co. between Sept. 13 and Sept. 30. They were sold for approximately $27 in Sears retail and catalog outlets throughout the United States. No injuries have been reported, but owners are cautioned not to use their compact whirlpool baths designed for hands, elbows and feet. Farmland Foods Sets Sales Record Farmland Foods, Inc., the meat processing and marketing subsidiary of Farmland Industries, Inc., Kansas City, Mo., achieved new records in sales and savings during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 3, according to financial figures released by W. Gordon Leith, chairman of the board of Farmland Foods. "This is the best year Farmland Foods has ever had," said Leith. "Net consolidated sales for the year were $429 million, an increase of $73 million over 1976. Savings for the year are ap- proximately $5 million." Patronage refund checks were mailed to nearly 9,000 member hog producers on November 14. John H. Westerhoff, president of Farmland Foods, staled that the patronage refund to members averages $2.02 per hog purchased. "Both beef producers and processors have been under severe financial pressure for the past several years," conlinued Leith. "Our beef operation did not generate savings this year and reflects unstable conditions in the beef industry." An application filed now will not have to be processed until the farmer determines his exact credit requirements but must be processed within one year of the date of application. Farmers must file an application prior to the deadline for the Farmers Home Administration to consider loan assistance through the emergency loan program. For more information concerning this program farmers should contact David W. Barbara Curtis Gets Promotion Barbara Curtis has been promoted to assistant cashier at Aurora National Bank, Aurora, Colo. Barbara is in charge of the banks 28 tellers. She has been employed by Aurora National for three years. Barbara Curtis Mrs. Curtis was a teller is at Fidelity State Bank in Garden City for 10 years. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus of Tribune. Barbara and husband, Terry have two daughters. Vieux is a Garden City attorney. A native of Dodge City, Vieux was graduated from Dodge City Community College, Emporia State University and Washburn University School of Law. Padilla is past director of the Southwest Kansas Forum Jobs for Progress based in Garden City. Colleges he has attended include the University of New Mexico, University of Albuquerque and St. Michaels College, Santa Fe, N.M. The Public Division, Prepaid Legal Services has provided free civil legal aid to an estimated 700 indigent clients in the seven southwest Kansas counties of Ford, Finney, Gray, Hodgeman, Kiowa, Edwards and Pawnee. Now in its tenth month of operation, the program is being financed by a federal grant. Caribbean Trip For Prokop Larry D. Three Named All Americans Three Representatives of Farm Bureau Insurance in Finney County have been named to their company's 1977 All American team. The three are agency manager J. All three men and their wives were awarded a trip to a meeting of the All Americans in San Francisco. 'Garage Sale' Earns $1/747 Wives of Garden City physicians earned $1,747 during their recent garage sale to raise money for St. Catherine Hospital. Headed by Mrs. Peggy Rodriguez, the wives conducted the two-day sale at the Co-op Center and then presented a check for the proceeds to Dan McKenna, associate administrator. McKenna said the donation would help purchase valuable additions for the hospital's medical library.
