as TUESDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 7, 1958 20 TUCSON DAILY CITIZEN PIMA FAIR 19 bought by Stan Newcomb: conducts big game hunting yesterday, and things got was over. -Citizen Photo by Bernie Sedley MAMBO WON'T DANCE Mambo wouldn't dance or do anything else very cooperative yesterday. Mambo is a year-old black mane lion, months ago. Newcomb, who brought Mambo downtown in Tulsa, about five trips into Central America, pretty lively before the visit Lion In Street Friendly -Until Sun Comes Out By JOHN BARNETT Everything would have been fine yesterday afternoon it, the sun hadn't come out so soon or if there hadn't been such big crowd or if the lion hadn't been so hungry or, well It all started when Stan Newcomb, a professional big game hunter from Gold Beach, stopped at the cafe at the Continental Trailways Bus Depot on South 6th avenue. While Newcomb was inside, he left his year-old Nairobi lion, Mambo, chained to the back of Newcomb's carry-all truck in the parking lot outside.

Mambo was happily crunching on a pile of king-sized bones, when a Citizen reporter and photographer arrived, summoned by a tipster who said there was a liondowntown. Mambo was friendly and gentle- or as much so as could be expected from a lion until the photographer started trying to take his picture. Then he decided his bones were more important. "Better look out," Newcomb warned. "When he's eating it's suicide to bother him." So everybody sat down and waited it out.

Finally, about half an hour later, Mambo finished with his bones-or at least let them be swiped from him. The photographer grabbed a couple of pictures, then suggested a "lion in the streets" shot, with Newcomb leading the big cat down the sidewalk. Newcomb agreed. He unchained Citizen Charlie's Crossword Choices This list contains, among others, the correct words needed to solve Citizen Charlie's Crossword Puzzle No. 205, published in the Citizen yesterday.
