Here's Rules for Selling Used Car Car owners who plan to sell a used car are affected by > the new vehicle inspection law which went into effect Jan. 1, as well as new car dealers. The law, as it affects the individual, means that— — If you are presently a resident of Iowa', your car is registered in the state and you do not plan to sell the car, it will have no effect on you. — If you trade or sell the car to a dealer, it is the dealer's responsibility to have it inspected when he sells it — If you sell your car to someone who is not a dealer, you must have the car inspected and certified as being safe before ownership can be transferred. — If you buy a car from a dealer or other individual, • they must have the car inspected and you must be assured the car is mechanically safe. — If you purchase a car out of state or move into Iowa from another state, you must have the car inspected before it can be registered in Iowa. However, if the car has been inspected in a state with an approved program witlw in the 30 days prior to registration, this rule would not apply. — If you buy or sell a motorcycle, truck, or any other motor vehicle, the same rules apply. I Individuals who plan to sell a car are also reminded that When a 1969 or newer motor vehicle is transferred, the old owner must provide the new owner a signed statement as to the true mileage. According to a law which went into effect Jan. 1, it became illegal to knowingly "tamper with, adjust, alter, change, set back, disconnect or fail to connect the odometer (mileage indicator) of any motor ve- | hicle registered in Iowa in order to reflect a lower mileage than the number the vehicle has actually been driven." | f • i Father-Son Fete Jan. 22 ESTHERVILLE DAILY NEWS, WED., JAN. 12, 1972 Page 3 1 1 Redeemer Lutheran Church's Father - Son banquet has been set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22.
