Mrs. M. A. Sherley is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Geo.

M. Smith, in the city this week. Superintendent Alley of the water works left last night to spend the week at Pawhuska. While it was quite cold last night, there was no frost this morning of any consequence. S.

A. Elliot, with the state department of agriculture, is in the city today, on official business. Frames are being laid today for walks along the properties of Mrs. Dr. Johnson and J.

F. Mason. M. B. Sims, who has been employed in the Curry jewelry store, went to Sallisaw this morning.

F. H. Rizer went to his home at Southwest City, this morning for a short visit with his family. Mrs. G.

O. Grant and young son went to Tahlequah yesterday for a few day's visit with her parents. Pole Littlajohn has returned fr om the Fayetteville fair, and reports a most pleasant trip, and that the fair was fine. R. M.

Nash, Deputy State Inspector, returned Monday night from Muskogee, where he had been attending the state fair. Lowery Davis left samples of Ben Davis apples at this office that are beauties. They would show up well at anybody's fair. Sam Leach was found guilty this afternnon by a jury for selling whiskey, and was given a fine of $50 and cost and 30 days in jail. Miss Cora Woodruff left this morning for Lincoln, where she will visit her friend, Miss May Washington, for a few days.

Morris and Andy Reese, all farmers living in the northwest corner of the county, were here yesterday, marketing cotton. Contracts have been closed with Joe M. Lynch and F. A. Blanck for the construction of their sidewalks along their property on Second street.

E. M. Morris, who lives two miles east of town, left some eggs at this office today that for real deformities beat anything we ever saw. They were all laid by a full grown hen. See them in the window.

From Saturday's Dally. Justice Polk Hinem, is in the city from Wauhiliau today. Dr. Woodruff was at Lyons on professional business today. BenBigby, merchant of Oak Grove, was in the city today.

Ferguson returned last night from a business trip to Marble. Plasterers are busy on the inside of the Ownby building and will soon have it finished. Charles Hanks, of Cane Hill, has been visiting his uncle and aunt, tev. and Mrs. J.

L. Brown. Indian Agent Wilson is in the city today looking after his many wards, the fullbloods of this section. The depot has three left handed employees in it now, the agent, the night clerk and one operator. Trigg Wilder is the style of a new restaurant that will soon open to the public, to be located in the Holland block.

Elder Mills is out of town today, holding services at the Elm Grove church northeast of town, and will return tomorrow night. The Model Drug Store has moved from its old quarters to the building vacated by the the Ferguson Halford pool hall. Mrs. J. D.

Jones was a passenger on No. 3 this morning for Sallisaw where she will visit friends and relatives for a few days; also at Marble. J. D. Mashburn, the Evansville saw mill man.

H. S. Hines, of Arkansas City, Kansas, spent yesterday in the city conferring with the Board of Trade relative to the proposition of fruit and market gardening here. He thinks this an ideal country fo such. Mr.

A new cabinet of filing cases have been put in the County Judges office. Attorney Harris returned from Muskogee last night.where. he had been on business. Cashier Magruderof the First National Bank left this morning for Quinton to look after business affairs. The Home Mission Society of the Methodist church will give, an exchange at Shaw's drug store next Saturday, the 14th.

Arthur Bently got his leg badly cut last week. His bro ther was useing a mowing blade and accidentally struck him, producing an ugly wound, which is improving slowly. The County Judge Excused Ezekiel Proctor and Joe Reece from further attendance on the court, and W. W. Whitmire until the 18th, and the remainder of the jury until the 16th.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Snyder and daughter, Miss BeUna, came in on No.

3 this morning for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Collums.

They have been in Kansas City attending the Fair. Mr. and Mrs. W. P.

Fay will leave in a few days for southern points for the benefit of Mrs. Fay, who has been sick for quite awhile. They will go overland and will be gone several days. TEACHERS EXAMINATION. The Examining Board of Adair County will hold a session at the public school building in Stilwell, Oirlahoma, October the 26th and 27th, 1911, for the purpose of examining all parties who wish to apply for a certificate to teach in the public schools.

The ap plicants are requested to meet the board promptly at 8:30 on the morning of the 26th. Teach ers holding temporary certificates must take this examination. Respectfully, J. B. WORSHAM'S CHANGE LOCATION OF POSTOFFICE From Tuesday's Dally. It is planned by Postmaster Sid Smith to move the office from his hotel building in the near department has sent applications to H. Carson for a five year rent contract on one of his buildings for the location of the postoffice. In addition a petition is being circulated and numerously signed today requesting the above designated place for the office. It is a splendid location, convenient for everybody.
