to year CLEAR LAKE The 146th anniversary of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges will be observed Sunday afternoon arid evening by members and their families 180 at Lutheran banquet CLEAR LAKE The annual mother-daughter banquet of Zion Lutheran Church was held Tuesday evening with 180 in attendance. The dinner was served by members of the Lutheran Brotherhood. Mrs. Glenn Shropshire was the toastmislress. Mrs.

Jack Kennedy gave the welcome for mothers. The response was by Barbara King. Mrs. Burgess Pcterscn was narrator for the skit which depicted the years of a girl's growth from infant to adult. The theme of the banquet and program was "Sugar and Spice." Music was provided by the women's chorus, directed by Mrs.

Loren Sadler who also led in group singing. Mrs. A. E. Folkmann accompanied at the piano.

Devotions were by Mrs. Gaylord Hove. Mrs. Ed Kicsau, Ihc general chairman, was assisted by Mrs. Lester Bcrgmann and Mrs.

Sam Lee. MASTER FARMERS DES Wallaces Farmer has designated five Iowa Master Farmers for 1965 of the northwest district at P. Park. The program, for members only, -begins at 2 p.m. A family dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., to be followed by an evening program which is open to the public.

The featured speaker will be Sam Cuvelier, Janes- ille, grand master of Iowa. Reservations for the dinner nnd they are: Hugo M. Black of Algona, Leon liaahr of New- cll, J. Gordon Hollis of Waterloo, Harold Tyon of Laurens and James W. Wright of Collins.

The association voted to hold the Memorial Day observance Monday, May 31, and to dec orate cemetery graves Sunday May 30.

Program committee members and chairmen were named for the observance. All officers of the memorial association ere re-elected. They are Marvin Prilipp, president; Mrs. Ed Hcitland, vice president, and Forclc Lcc, secretary. Final arrangements for the Services for Mrs.

Young to be Friday CLEAR services for Bessie L. Young, 76, 2317 N. Shore who' died Monday evening in a Mason City hospital after a lingering illness, will be Friday at 11 a. m. in the Methodist Church at Plymouth.

Dr. John DeLong of the Clear Lake Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Cemetery. The Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bessie Leota Young was born April 7, 1889, in Mitchell County, the daughter of James and Sarah (Slawson) Ashmore.

She attended schools in Moira, She was married to Warren E. Young April 2, 1913, at Pomona, Calif. They farmed in several areas, near Nora Springs until 1922; then near Rosecreek, until 1932 and farmed near Austin, Nora Springs and Charles City. She has made her home seven years with her daughter, Mrs. Ward (Sadie) Dects, Clear Lake.

Survivors include three daughters, June Carr, Charles City; Mrs. Don (Erma) Jacobson, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Deets; two brothers, Lorcn Ashmore, and Elaine Ashmore, a i 11 10 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildrcn. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Nora Springs.

Redder buys Belmond store; is Rexall manager LAKE A change in manager for Casey Rexall Drug, 306 Main will become, effective June Erwin Redder, who has been manager since announces tie has purchased' the Nolan Drug Store at Belmond from Mrs. Don Nolan. Charles E. Roseland, who has been pharmacist at Rexall Drug since November 1963, has been promoted to manager, according to Richard Casey, owner. Redder came to' Clear Lake from St, James, where he was employed as a pharmacist for one year.

He is a grad uate of South Dakota State University, Brookings. Mr. and Mrs. Redder have three children, Mary, 11; David, 8, and John, 3. He has been active in the Chamber of Commerce and Lions' Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Roseland have lived in Clear Lake since 1946. He formerly was employed by the Corner Drug Store and R. and Prescription Shop.

103rd BIRTHDAY BOONE Mrs. Elinor Gage, one of'Iowa's oldest residents, marked her 103rd birthday at the Eastern Star home at Boonc where she has lived since 1949. Mrs. Gage was born in Palo, Iowa, on April 14, 1862, and has been an Iowa resident most of her life. Flushing of water mains scheduled CLEAR Larry Keith, superintendent of public works, announced Wednesday that wa- mains in Clear Lake will be Flushed next week. The flushing takes place in the spring and fall. Flushing will begin May 5 at 8 a.m. and it is estimated work will be completed by Friday afternoon. Keith said householders should draw off several pails of water from the bottom of their hot water heaters Saturday morning to remove any sediment that has collected.

The early warning on the spring cleaning was given to allow housewives to complete the laundry before crews begin stirring up the rust and sediment in the mains. A new closing hour at the city dump will be in effect throughout the summer. The dump will close at 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. Weekdays the dump opens at 7 a.m.
