Phone 4600"for a WANT AD Taker EVENING TIMES, CUMBERLAND, MD., THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1952 ELEVEN Pork And Apple Kraut A nd Wieners Team Up Curry Makes Unusual Dish For a rea ny different pork dish, «V this pork and apple curry using «conomical shoulder cuts: 1 pound diced pork shoulder \'i cup chopped onions 2 medium sized tart apples 2 tablespoons flour 1 teaspoon curry powder *A teaspoon ground ginger 2 cups bouillon 1 teaspoon Kalt 2 teaspoons lemon juice 7 or 8 oz. package noodle.? Brown pork and onions in a little hot fat. Wash, pare and dice apples and add to pork and onions. Combine flour, curry powder and ginger and add to pork mixture. Stir in bouillon made by dissolving 2 bouillon cubes In 2 cups hot water. Add salt, cover and simmer 45 minutes or until pork is tender. Add lemon juice and serve on noodles which have been cooiced in boiling salted water. Chopg, Celery Sluffed Celery stuffing is ideal for pork chops. Simply add chopped celery to bread stuffing and season with minced onion and parsley. To stuff, cut the- chops along the bone, fill with celery combination, then brown them thoroughly in lard or drip- Pings. Cover and cook on top of the range or in a 350" P. oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. until bacon is cooked. Turn once during baking process. Krautfurter Casseroles (Makes 4-6 servings) One-third cup butter or margarine, 3 tablespoons grated onion, % cup grated carrots, 1 cup grated raw potatoes, 1 No. 2 ! ,-i can sauerkraut, dash of pepper, one 3-ounce can tomato sauce. 4-6 frankfurters, 'i cup grated American cheese. In a skillet, melt butter or shortening. Add onion, carrots, potatoes, sauerkraut and pepper; cook 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add tomato sauce; mix well. Turn into 4 or 6 individual cas- seroles. Cut frankfurters into halves, lengthwise and then crosswise. Place frankfurter pieces on top of each casserole. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 15 minutes. Storing Fresh Dates When you buy 'fresh dates I or 'family munching, store them in a covered container in the refrigerator. They keep well this way. Deviled eggs on shredded greens make a delicious and nutritious luncheon salad.
