WEIGH-IN — Heavyweight contender Ken Norton weighs in at 205 for tonight's fight with Mulianimad Ali at Los Angeles. AH, who weighed 212, looks on. Both fighters predicted a win in their 12-round rematch, which will be shown on closed circuit television at Panama City Numicipal Auditorium beginning at 8:35 p.m. Tickets are $7 and are on sale today at the box office. Ali Liked Over Norton UPI Sports Writer tINGLEWOOD. Calif. (UPD— A trimmed-down Muhammad Ali, who acknowledges a defeat probably will bring his once-fabled career to an end, pits his fading boxing skills against the rock-hard rnuscle of Ken Norton Monday night in a rematch of the No. 1 and No. 2 heavyweight contenders. Although the 28-year-old Nor ton is rated as the top challenger for George Foreman's crown, he is a 5-2 underdog against Ali, the former champion whom he beat on a 12-round split decision at San Diego March 31. "If a man can follow me and get away with a lot of punches while I'm prancing and dancing and in real tip-top shape and serious," said Ali, "then it's time for mo to retire." Vikings Loolt Lil(e Champions By United Press International The 1973 Minnesota Vikings may turn out to be the team the 1972 Minnesota Vikings were supposed to be. The Vikings were odds-on- favorites to win the Super Bowl in 1972 but, in one of the most embarrassing collapses in recent years, they didn't even make the playoffs. The rugged Steelei' defense blanl<ed Atlanta, which obviously still hasn't found a quarterback who can move the team. "I have come this time," he declared, "for some serious Muhammad Ali dancing." The fact is, though, that Ali is a very old 31 as fighters go. He's been fighting as a pro since 1960. the year he won a gold medal at the Rome Olympics. Boxing experts point out that the simple act of losing vs'eight is no barometer when it conies to making a judgment if a fighter still has it or not. tin his two 1973 start.s— against Norton and against light-punching Joe Bugnei' of England at Las Vegas, Nev., P"eb. 14 (a 12-round victory)— Ali bore little resemblance to. the man who made the phrase "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" famous. In both fights, he spent most of his time flatfooted instead of on his toes like the old Ali. "Muhammad's on his way out and he won't admit it," said Norton, who has the physique of a body builder. "He thinks he can find the fountain of youth by getting down in weight but he'll find out he's an old man after the first round." A crowd of between 14,000 and 15,000 is expected for the 12-r'ounder at the Forum here, which will begin at li'dO p.m. PDT following a 6:30 p.m. PDT heavyweight meeting between Jerry Quarry, the No. 4 contender, and journeyman Tonv Doyle.
