Caldwcll Does It Again Seven Under Sets Record • IJernic Caldwell of Hie Austin's i Cafo squad set another season's mark as the Summer Men's Industrial Golf League completed ils eighth of twelve weeks at Jaycee Airlinks. Caldwcll carded a scvcn-under par 28 over the nine hole course, erasing the former low score of 32 which lie set two weeks ago. Next two low rounds were also posted by members of the Austin unit. Jerry Caldwcll finished two- under with a 33 and Al Valcn- zuela was even-par 35. Bill Brandon of the Fire Department entry was fourth in live individual standings with a 37. Last week's results: American Telephone and Telegraph downed Cities Service Gas, 150 stroke to 156; Modern Radio Chmelka Takes Golf Honors Marolyn Chmelka captured the 18 hole A Flight championshp last Tuesday during weekly ladies day at Garden City Country Club. IMay was on a basis of "Ulirul Bogey" whereby scores were deducted on holes two, five, and eight. Judy Bourne topped the 18 hole B Flight, b:it there was a three- way tie for the 9 hole A Flight title. Matching shots in that divi sion were Grace Craig, Betty Waters, and Le Moine Jones. Pairings Set For District Tourney Here Pairings for the first annual men's slow-pitch Softball tournament here were drawn up Friday nfeht by director Leo Eck. Ten teams take part in the double-elimination meet, with the winner getting a berth in next month's state tourney here. Garden City Co-op will not play in the district. That club won the first-round league crown and qualified for state as host team. The tourney starts Sunday and runs for six consecutive nights, finishing Friday. Includ- Nu-Style Shoe Store team. Kunz Mobil Service, runner- up in the league, was topseeded. Church of the Nazarcno was seeded second. Legion Sets Playoff Here Clint Lightncr Field will be the site of a special American Legion junior baseball playoff game Sunday niyht. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tlw game 'Will pair Dodge City and Great Bend. Dodge recently won the sub-district tournament here, bestinj four other entries. Great Bend wa s champ of its own sub-district meet, which had seven teams entered. Sunday's game is the first of a best two of-thre e series. The two rivals move to Great Bend Monday night for second and third (if necessary) games.
