A A A A THE RIO GRANDE SUN, New Mexico THURSDAT. JANUARY 7, 1900 EAVESDROPPING Clarence Bell of Sombrillo was to the Veterans Hospital Albuquerque Sunday. Doctors report he has a serious heart condition and will remain in Albuquerque for awhile to undergo The question of whether or not to have smorgasbord this year will be voted upon at the general meeting of Espanola HosVolunteers 7:30 p.m. Janvary 11. Dr.

Valerie Friedman, Dr. Roy Turley. and Mrs. Don Wilson will address the group on coordination of medical staff, hospital and auxiliary. Husbands are invited to attend the meeting to be held in the hospital dining room.

Familiar faces around the Santa Crus EUB church who were home from college include Marvin and A. L. Brandstetter Silver Pippin, Renee Brown, Fungi Duran, Eula Lowance, Mae Duran and Sam Welles. A Christmas family reunion was held at the C. H.

Yates home in Fairview with their daughter and two sons and their families home for the holiday. The Clar ance Yates family of Fairview present; also the John RobYates family of Taos; and the Rev. and Mrs. Clair Marvel and four children of Kingsdown, Kansas. The Marvels visited here December 15-28.

Mrs. Emma Parten of Albuquerque, a former Valley resident, spent the December 19 weekend in Espanola visiting friends and relatives. Paul Johnson was in Bisbee, visiting his son Robert for the Christmas holidays, from Dec. 21 to Dec. 30.

Robert has been employed by the newspaper in Bisbee for the past three years. Johnson travelled with Jack Cummings and his family, also of Espanola -who spent the holi- davs in Lordsburg, N.M. visiting. Mrs. Cummings' mother and in Silver City, N.M.

visiting his mother. A little excitement added to the trip when Johnson, driving one of the two cars in the party, ran over pipe which puntured large hole through his gas tank, leaving him just enough gas to get in to Deming where the tank was repaired. Mr. and Mrs. J.C.

Martinez and son Fernando, all of Espanola, leave Thursday, Jan. 7, for San Francisco where they will visit with another son and daughter. Daughter Cora is married to Joe Salazar, formerly of Tierra Amarilla, and both have taught hair styling in California for the past eight years. They have a daughter, Beverly. Son Cleofas Jr.

lives in Ontario, California. He has worked as a bookkeeper at the government guided missle base in Pomona for about 7 years. Albedia Tafoya, Santa Clara Pueblo, was awarded the steer in the Santa Clara raffle. Twenty-five pounds of pinion nuts went to Luis Sevmour, Santa Fe and 15-pound ham went to Tonita Roybal, San Ildefonso, Mr. and Mrs.

Leo Amador, Los Angeles, visited over the holidays with their mother, Mrs. Albert Amador Sr. in Ojo Caliente. Amador is a teacher in a Los Angeles high school. Fanchers Now In Portales ruffles cascaded down the back of the dress into a chapel train, her veil I was held by a tiny hat of pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white gardenias and orchids centered with a pink rose.

Pink was the color of the maid of honor, Janel Gurule. Her gown was pale pink brocade and a pink velvet headband held her brief veil; her bouquet was pink roses centered with a gardenia. Judith Yelvington of Carlsbad and Anita Bacicha were bridesmaids in identical costumes of pink brocade worn with bouquets of split pink carnations. Donald Gray Morrow was best man, and Duane Hall and Douglas Jones, all of Los Alamos, were groomsmen. Cand'elighters were cousins of the bride, Judith and Patricia Gossett of Albuquerque.

Mrs. Neil Chamberlain was organist. The bride's mother chose a champagne brocade dress with blue accessories and vellow rosebuds corsage. Mrs. Fancher selected a complete costumes of winter white brocade worn with pink rosebuds.

Pink and white, the bride's hues, again colored the recention at La Posada Inn where the table was laid with pink, and rosebuds flanked the wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Fancher are at home in' Portales where thev are students at Eastern New Mexico State College.

The couple was married in a Pink and White wedding December 27 at St. John's Methodist Church in Santa Fe, the Rev. John Carpenter officiating at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the former Mary Grace Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Arthur F. Brown of Santa Fe. Fancher is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H.

Fancher of Fairview. A candlelight ceremony before an altar respledent with white gladioli in brass vases united the couple, the bride given in marriage by her father. The bride wore gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over delustre satin featuring nipped basque waistline and wing collar over the full lace skirt. Tulle Mrs. Clifford Diem of Albuquerque, the bride's sister, served the wedding cake; Mrs.

Vere Gossett and Mrs. Vernon Gossett PTA To Hear Discussion Of Immunization January meeting of the Espanola High School PTA wIll ture a discussion of immunization required by the state of New Mexico. The meeting will be January 18, at 7 p.m. in room C-1 at the high school. District Health Officer Dr.

Marian Hetopp will be the featured speaker, with others including health of the state Irene Vigil, school Helen Scharti, No comPant of the PTA. Installation Set Saturday For Officers Espanola Rebekahs and Oddfellows will hold a formal joint installation ceremony for 1960 officers at 8 p.m. January 9 at the Oddfellows Hall in Riverside. District Deputy President Esther Lemmons and her installing team, all of Los Alamos, will attend to install the Rebekah officers. Noble Grand Helen Rockwell heads the new slate and will announce her appointed officers after the installation.

Mrs. Feral Tompkins will be installed as vice grand; Myrtle Lowance, recording secretary; Kay Harrold, financial secretary; Carey Boddy, treasurer. Outgoing Noble Grand Bonnie Perkins will be presented with a Past Noble Grand pin at the installation ceremony. In February the group will hold its formal banquet to greet the state president, Mildred Wooten of Las Cruces. The District Deputy President Floyd R.

Barry and his installing team, all from Albuquerque, will attend to install Oddfellows officers. Herschel Boddy of Fairview will be installed as Noble Grand of the Oddfellows. Vice Grand will be Mark Cantrell, Secretary Lester Parmer, and Jim Speirs is treasurer. Refreshments will be served at the hall after the formal installation ceremonies. Mrs.

Mench Installed By OES On Hill LOS ALAMOS Mrs. Vera Mench was installed as Worthy. Matron of Los Alamos Chapter 63 OES in ceremonies. held January the Masonic Hall, Her husband, John Mench, who is nat both a Past Master of Pajarito Lodge and Past Patron of the OES served as major installing officer. Other elected officers installed were Worthy Patron James Dison, Associate Matron Mary Wilder, Associate Patron Robert Marlett, Conductress Flora McCracken, Associate Conductress Phyllis Norman, Secretary Mary Marlett, Treasurer Lucille Rep, and Sentinel John Stein.

Appointed officers were Hope Jefferies, organist; Dolly Dison, Adah; Jerry Porter, Ruth; Bar bara Carlson, Esther; Barbara Hoak, Martha; Bess Hegler, Electra; Ruth Giles, warder; Meredith Matlack, chaplain; and Betty Lou Stein, marshall. Richard Van Vleet, Worthy Grand Associate Patron of the Grand Jurisdiction of New Mexico, presented the officers with "Rainbow which will be passed on to consecutive officers each year from now on. All installing officers were Past Masters and Past Patrons and included Herman Roser, marshall; Van. Vleet, chaplain; Florence Manker, secretary; and Alfred Anderson, treasurer. Margaret Greenwood was installing organist and Mrs.

James Young was soloist. Mrs. Mench dedicated her year to the Masons, and especially to Pajarito Lodge 66. Peaslee, Blanchard Wedding Held In Los Alamos Church Dr. and Mrs.

Alfred Tredway Peaslee will be at home in Los Alamos after a wedding trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, Nev. The couple was married at 3 p.m. December 29 at the bride's home, Grand Estates Drive, Estes Park, Colo. Nee Barbara Blanchard, the bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs.

Kenneth Blanchard of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Estes Park. Peaslee's parents are. Mr. and Alfred T.

Peaslee of El Rancho Sueno, Espanola. The Rev. Marcus Grether of Community Church in Estes Park performed the wedding ceremony in the living room of the Blanchard home in Estes Park. The couple took their vows before an improvised altar of white stock, gladioli and lemon leaves highlighted by candlelight. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a chapellength gown of imported clipped Chantilly lace worn with a hoop.

Her veil, also of chapel length embroidered in pearls, was a family heirloom. She carried white carnations centered with a white orchid. Mrs. F. Roger Curtis of Prairie Village, Kansas, sister of the bride, was matron of honor.

She wore a red satin gown and carried an old-fashioned bouquet of pink carnations. Dr. L. W. Shortell of Boulder, Colo.

brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man. Carolyanne Curtis, niece of the bride, was flower girl in a blue velvet gown and carried a basket of sweetheart roses. Michael Shortell, a nephew of the bridegroom, served as candlelighter. Mrs. Peaslee, mother of the bridegroom, chose a cherry ribbon knit suit for her son's wedding.

Mrs. Blanchard wore blue peau de soi, and 'both mothers were given cymbidium orchid corsages. Almost 50 friends and relatives attended the reception immediately after the ceremony to congratulate the couple. Mrs. Robert Blanchard, wearing blue taffeta with white carnations, served the wedding cake after the couple had cut it.

Linda Louise Shortell was in charge of the guest book. Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. A. T.

Peaslee of Espanola, Dr. and Mrs. L. W. Shortell and three children of Boulder, Mrs.

Harlow Adams of Dubuque, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. John Fitch of Boulder, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Curtis and three children of Prairie Village, Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blanchard and two children of Clarendon Hills, and other friends from Cheyenne, Ft. Collins, Denver and Estes Park. Peaslee is a staff member in the theoretical physics division of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory.

The bride was also employed in the same division before her marriage. GEORGE E. COLE Coles Leave On After December LOS ALAMOS Mr. and Mrs. George E. Cole are on a trip through the southwest after their wedding at 4 p.m, December 27 in the First Methodist Church at Los Alamos.

The bride is the former Lora Belle Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson E. Hughes of Suffield, Ohio. Cole is the son of Mrs.

Anne P. Dumas of Los Alamos. The Rev. A. Wayne Douglas officiated at the double-ring ceremony in which the bride was given in marriage by her father.

Floral arrangements of white and red used with palm and candleabra decorated the altar. Mrs. Gene Eginger, organist, accompanied Herman Roser as he sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's A ballerina gown of lace over taffeta was worn by the bride, the costume fashioned with sabrina neckline, elbow-length Miss Naranjo Is Engaged VIOLA NARANJO and Mrs. Ramon J. Naranjo: Sr.

of Guachapangue announce the engagement of their daughter, Viola, to Pic. Joseph E. Suaso, con of Mrs. Lucinda Suaso and the late. Ezequiel Suaso of Espanola.

Naranjo graduated from High School in 1957 Wedding Trip 27 Marriage of Albuquerque served the punch; and Barbara Ryno presided at the guest book. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Charles McNeely, Robert McNeely, Mitzy Jones, Mr. and Mrs.

W. Lipp, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Van Etten, Mr.

and Mrs. Vernon Gossett, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Diem and daughter Lynne, all of Albuquerque; Sandra Williams, Evelyn Shepherd, and Larry Throgmorton, all of Carlsbad. Fancher expects to receive his degree at ENMS at mid-term and will teach there until June.

She carried a crescentshaped bouquet of red roses. Edith Lynn Hughes wore a pale green dress in her role of flower girl for her aunt's wedding.

John D. Mench of Los Alamos was best man, and ushers were Bernard Pohlmann Jr. of Los Alamos and S. Kenneth Lilly of Santa Fe. Richard Hughes, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Mrs. Hughes chose a dress of sapphire blue brocade worn with a red roses for her daughter's wedding. re Mrs. Dumas wore a turquoise lace dress accented with a pink rose corsage. A reception at Boy Scout Lodge followed the wedding.

Mrs. Eugene Eyster catered aSsisted at the bridal table by Christine Simpson and Mesdames Bernard Pohlmann, John Mench and Clifford Strang. Mrs. Frank Newcom presided over the Bride's Book. In the receiving line with the bride's parents, were Mr.

and Mrs. S. Lilly of Santa Fe, the bridegroom's mother, and Mr. and Mrs. Warner L.
