And hes off on his two-hour laugh-filled Comedy In Music show. His magic fingers occasionally but beautifully gracing what he calls his integrated keyboard, Borge provides 1 CK After a motion picture has been shot and edited, the producer calls in a fellow like Elmer Bernstein and says, Write me some fitting music for this. To the untrained film composer, this presents a distinct problem because he has to fit his music to whatever is happening on the screen. In other words, he may have written an 18-second passage of music, but if a particular scene runs 15 seconds, its the music, not the film, thats cut. Working on the forthcoming The Young Doctors, Bernstein first sits at the piano in his Studio City home and composes, then transfers the notes to score sheets.

In the bottom photo, we sit in on an actual recording session'on the Goldwyn lot where the score is played while the actual film is screened where Bernstein can see thats how its done. Volley -Time TODAY Photoi by Ceone (rich WITH WIT AND WISDOM. M. Hartford, I. A.

Drops of rain fell -on his forehead and he swore softly- The usually patient director writer and his producing partner, William Perl-berg, have become unwilling specialists in postponed pictures. The first was The Pleasure Of His Company, which was going at a rapid clip when the actors decided to go on strike. They had commitments with William Holden and European studios to film Counterfeit Traitor. What to do? They suspended Pleasure for Counterfeit.

But the celluloid saints decided to bedevil Seaton on Counterfeit Traitor. They sent him some of the worse summer weather in recent European history. Last October, Seaton was in Stockholm trying to shoot summer scenes in sunless 33-degree weather. Seaton returned to Hollywood to finish Pleasure after a six-month hiatus, and the Counterfeit company regrouped here this June. But he had only six days use of Holden, who had to report to London for Satan Never 1 Sleeps.

That was why Seaton eyed the sky. A crack appeared in the clouds, and the film makers scurried to activity, spurred on by their director. I figure these delays cost up $300,000 on each picture, Seaton said later. I do not recommend this as a way of making movies. Fredericks Lensing Ellsworth Fredericks is working as head cinematographer on Appointment in Zahrain, starring Yul Brynner, Sal Mineo, Madlyn Rhue and Jack Warden.

Remember Borges phoene-tic punctuation? He repeats this but adds to the act something similar: inflationary language. With prices going up, Borge says, numbers to be found in words will be going up, also, and when they do, Im ready for it. Wonderful will be two-derful; lieutenant will be lieu-eleven-ant; create will be cre-nine, and so on, Borge says. A sample sentence would be: Darling, you look two-derful three-night. We would love to write on and on about the great Dane but space does not permit, Well end this review here by saying, as Borge might: Three-dle-00 for now.

Thirty minutes later, they sent up a table and a dealer. My wife doesnt gamble so she sent back the table. I came in and sent back the dealer I dont gamble either.

Audiences are accustomed to Borges one-man show but in his current Greek appearance, the Dane does something a little different. During the second (and last) half of the show, Borge introduces the pianist for the New York Philharmonic, the very talented Leonid Hambro. Together, they do some beautiful piano stylings that are marvelous in their counterpoint precision. And I mean together! While Hambro is playing Humoresque, the al-ways-in-a-hurry Borge is playing Tea For Two. They do the Minute Waltz Hambro plays the first half, Borge plays the last half so well only have to play half a I CR 5-4484 206 N.

The authenticity of the classic model is based upon the fact that Stevens sent a large group of technicians, including photographers and architects, to Amsterdam, under the supervision of George Stevens, to photograph and sketch in the minutest detail the historic Anne Frank site. After two and one-half months, the miniature set was completed and from it, the huge, four story set in which the internationally named motion picture was filmed was eventually 1 constructed.

The sprawling gray buildings that once housed the Gestapo in war-time Berlin have become, for movie purposes, the headquarters of the East German (Russian) police. Billy Wilder moved his cameras and equipment there to shoot some scenes for his new comedy, One, Two, Three, a Mirisch Company presentation starring James Cagney. The film production unit had also raised an immense sign, East German Police Headquarters over the front of the door, and passers-by never fail to do a double-take.
