Thursday Sept 28 1933 THE VIAN PRESS VIAN OKLAHOMA Page Three Office Phone 122 Residence Phone 169 BRIDGE PARTY Miss Irene Matthews was hostess at a bridge party last Thursday evening at her home to honor Mrs Everett Dodge and Miss Katherine Reager of Nowata who were visiting in the city The color scheme of yellow and white was featured in the appoint ments and red roses were used abund antly to decorate the rooms Bridge was played from three tables at which Mrs Herman Worley received high score favor and Mrs Everett Dodge second high favor Miss Kather ine Reager was presented with guest prize A dainty salad course was served to the following: Mesdames Everett Dodge of Nowata Howard Ward Of Muldrow Jack Cheek Clarence lora Herman WoHe'y John Morrow and Misses Katherine Reager of Nowata Geneva Cheek Laveda Wilson Paul ine Ewens rances Sue Reager and Herma Cheek RECEPTION HELD One of the largest social events of the month was the reception given last Monday evening in the basement of the Presbyterian church by the Parent Teachers association for the new teachers and new comers to the city A very interesting program wa presented featuring readings solos and duets Henry ord Reager and Billie Maxine Romans gave vocal solos that were highly enjoyed A duet by Misses Carlotta Warneke and Anna Lowe Wiggins was well received Miss Diva Justice gave a reading and responded with an encore number Several very interesting games were played The Ice by Dr Mor row and Mr Hoover w' especially enjoyed and proved to be very enter taining During the evening the new teachers and new residents of the city were asked to form a line to bo introduced to the crowd Those introduced were: Mr and Mrs Gurdie Hurd Miss Dorothy Majors Miss Patton Dr and Mrs John Morrow Miss Elizabeth McCurdy Raymond Lloyd Mrs Justice Miss Diva Justice and Mr and Mrs Westmoreland Punch was served by Mrs Leland Hines Mrs Cecil Bauman Mrs Rockett and Mrs Leon Black About seventy five guests were pre sent PARTY OR HUSBAND Mrs ears entertained at her home last Thursday evening with a party to honor the birthday anniver sary of her husband Appropriate games were enjoyed and delicious refreshments were served to the following: Mr and Mrs Oscar Capps Mrs A Cheek Mr and Mrs Haraway Mr and Mrs Neal Dr and Mrs Ice Mr and Mrs Jack Wear and Mr and Mn ears BIRTHDAY PARTY Little Miss Colleen Benge enter tained with a party Monday afternoon ot honor her 10th birthday anniver sary The honor guest received ten dolls and several other presents After games and contests refresh ments were served to a group of young friends YOUNG PEOPLES UNION The Young Peoples Union will meet Sunday evening at 6:30 in the audi torium of the Presbyterian church A special drive is being made to have an attendance of 60 or more Plans are being made to have an interesting program and everybody is invited Last Sunday evening officers were elected for the remainder of the year Miss Nita Oliver is president Billie Holder is vice president Biddy John ston is secretary treasurer and Maxine Holder is the new song leader We are beginning another series of meetings in our Young Union and are striving for a bigger and better union during the next three months of 1933 The outcome depends on you We boys and girls are the future of Sallisaw and many of us will play a much more important part in life Are you prepared?
