Dr. Miller reviewed a report he submitted to the board at its November meeting in which the cost of modernizing the Adams building was estimated at $273,500 and that a new structure at $423,500.

Dr. Miller pointed out that the boar must be governed by the needs of the educational program for the entire community and must consider past experience in school finances and population and what these two may be in future years. He explained that the over-all picture includes consideration of the need for a new Logan building at an estimated cost of $400,000 to $500,000 and the remodeling of the high school to include a new auditorium. He reported that the Department of Labor and' Industry has approved the Adams annex for continued use and that architects and engineers have termed the Logan building safe for larger Twenty new rookie firemen for. the city fire department were officially appointed by city council Tuesday morning.

They will join the department Jan. 1. Councilman Jacob, Weber, who announced to the Tribune several weeks ago the plans to add the new said the new firemen were required under the state bill which reduced the fire-man's work week from 72 to 60 hours. The new firemen will be employed at salaries of $222.60 a month. No mention was made of the usual $30 bonus, indicating and add it to city workers' basic council is planning to remove it pay.

The ushers were Raymond Weaver, Phoenixvllle and Harry G. Laird, Carlisle, former Tyrone resident The altar of the church was decorated with fern and white chrysanthemums. Mrs. Rodney Mayhew played the wedding music and also accompanied Joan Stryker, of Strasburg who sang "0 Promise Me" and "Because." The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with train, net Bertha neckline, long pointed sleeves, and carried a bridal bouquet of white rosebuds. The matron of honor was attired in a full length gown of American beauty taffeta and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers.

The bride is a graduate of the Millersburg High school class of 1947, and was employed as laboratory technician in the Harris-burg State hospital. The bridegroom, a graduate of Tyrone High school class of 1943, served 2tf years In the Army in SWPA. He la a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, class of September 1949, and is presently associated with the Graham Getz funeral home, Tyrone. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the social room of the church for approximately 100 guests from New York, Carlisle, York, Harrisburg, Millersville, Lancaster Strasburg, New Danville, Phoenixvllle, and' Tyrone. The couple will honeymoon in the New England states and Canada, and after Dec.

3 will be at home in their apartment at 310 West 11th Tyrone. Mrs. Robert E. Reed, son and daughter, state College, have returned after visiting Mr. and Mrs.

AHstetter's home near Cumberland, for the family reunion and Thanksgiving dinner Thursday met with an accident on the highway between Bedford and Cessna. Their car was hit on the left side by an oncoming automobile which was skidding on an icy stretch of the highway. The Altstetter car was thrown on its side but all of the occupants escaped serious injury. Suffering only from shock and bruises the Altstetters were taken to Mr. Altstetter's home and returned to their own home Friday afternoon.

Miss Emily Anne Bell, a junior student at Pennsylvania State college, spent part of the Thanksgiving vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Earl Bell. On Friday Miss Bell, accompanied by Jack Goshorn, traveled to Pitts burgh to visit with a sorority sister, Miss Barbara White, and to witness the Penn State-Pittsburgh University football game.

Miss Veronica McMullen and Marlene Coble, first year stu- -dents at Mt. Aloysius Academy spent the Thanksgiving holidays with their respective families. Patti Zimmerman, who is attending Zeth Business school in Altoona, spent the Thanksgiving vacation with her parents. Mr. and Mrs.
