HAMMER One of the oldest residents of Alum Bank, died at -his home Wednesday noon. He was born Feb. 15, 1868, in Alum Ban. a son of Hezekiah and Sarah (Taylor) Hammer, and was twice married. His first wife, Mrs.

Louise (Statler) Hammer, and a' daughter, Mrs. Bertha Noon, preceded him in death. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Effie (Anders) Hammer; the following children, E. Graham Hammer of Conemaugh, R.

Mrs. Edith Custer and Mrs. Margaret Weise of Johnstown, Lui, Frank and Mrs. Betty Maxwell of Alum Bank; two step-children, Hartley R. Hammer of New Kensington and George of Johnstown; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and three brothers, Bruce of Commodore, John of Altoona and Harry of Johnstown.

Mr. Hammer was a member of the Calvary Community church, Alum Bank. He had taught school for 15 years and then served as a coal insoector for the Berwind-White Co. Friends are being received at the Blackburn funeral homei Pleasantville. ANNA FRANCES EBERLE Of Cottage, Petersburg, R.

D. 1, died at her home Thursday after three years' illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1868, at Petersburg, R. D.

1, a daughter of Jared and Martha (Fleming) Johnson, and on Jan. 24, 1893, at Huntingdon, married J. Byron Eberle, who died Dec. 31, 1946. She leaves one daughter, Mrs.

Viola Foster of Cottage; three grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. A son, Armour, died in 1946. Mrs. Eberle was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian church and Ladies' Aid society. Friends are being received at the Spyker funeral home, Petersburg, from 6 P.

Thursday following an extended Illness. She was born at Lisburn, York county, a daughter of James C. and Catherine (Nay-lor) Kritzer. Her husband, Walter L. King, preceded her death.

Mrs. King was a member of the First Church of Christ Altoona. She leaves three sons, Ja. les W. of Portsmouth, Harry M.

and Howard C. of Altoona; one daughter, Lydia M. King of Williamsburg, RD; one brother, Samuel O. Kritzer of Altoona; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Heckert of Millersburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

ALICE M. STRACHAN Of 118 Stewart Lakemont Terrace, died Thursday at 2:30 P. M. at her home after an extended illness. She was born at Bald Eag.e, Feb.

10, 1869, a daughter of Harold and Susan Black Moore. Her husband, John Strachan, who was mine inspector, preceded her in death. A daughter, Mary, died in 1954. She leaves one brother, Victor Moore of Clearfield county. Mrs.

Strachan was a member of Broad Avenue Presbyterian church. Friends may call at the John P. Lafferty funeral home after 7 P. M. Friday.

MRS. MARY CUMMINS Of 102 S. Shaver Mount Union, was found dead in the living room of her home Wednesday at 9:30 P. M. She had been in ill health for some time.

She was born in Penn township, near Marklesburg, Sept. 6, 1882, a daughter of the Rev. Samuel A. and Hannah (Dell) Norris. She was married to Elmer Cummins, who died in 1946.

Mrs. Cummins leaves two sis ters and one brother, Mrs. Mertie J. Messamer of Adel, Mrs. Minnie Gabert of Mount Union, and Samuel R.

Norris of Shirleys-burg, R. D. She was a member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren in Hill Valley. MRS. MARY PROBST Of 84 Duff died at Altoona hospital at 5:20 P.

M. Thursday after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona July 1914, daughter of Frank X. and Catherine (Progle) Stein-bauer. Mrs.

Probst leaves her husband, Frank J. Probst; a son, Francis, and a daughter, Mary Lee, both at home; her father, Frank Stein-bauer of Altoona; three step-children, Thomas Probst with the U.
