Peris Brown, center, portrays the leading role, here surrounded by her worried family.

On the left, Amy Farrell, her youngest sister, Robert Litowchak as her father and Lamar Parker as her mother, as they rehearse a scene from "Take Her She's Mine" a warm-hearted comedy, which will run through Sunday, July 23. Take Her, She's Mine' Opens Tomorrow Evening A refreshing and warm-hearted comedy about growing up "Take Her, She's Mine' opens at the Millbrook Playhouse, Mill Hall tomorrow. Written by Henry and Phoebe Ephron, "Take Her, She's Mine" rah for over a year on Broadway and was made into a successful movie starring Fred McMurry and Sandra Dee. "Take Her, She's Mine" tells the story of the American girl off to college for the first time. The reactions of her parents to her attempts to sophistication, her involvement in political and social causes, and her relationships with boys provide the basis for the light-hearted comedy.

The play has proved immensely popular because it protrays exactly and hilariously the fears and pitfalls of rais- ing daughters and sending them off to school which are recognizable to almost all Americans. In the end, it is the parents as well as their daughter who grow up. The plot centers around the Michaelsons, an average, well- to-do family in Southern California whose oldest daughter is about to set out for college in the East as the play begins. The daughter, played by Elizabeth Ashley in the play and Sandra Dee on screen, will be portrayed by guest star Faris Brown the Millbrook Production. Miss Brown is a familiar face on television commercials and has had leading roles at the Shakespeare Repertory Company and the Carriage House Theatre in Lousiville.

Her mother and father whom she upsets so much will be played by Lamar Parker and Robert Litowchak. Amy Farrell will play her younger sister. Rodger Faucette will play the young girl's dazed poetic professor and John Klien and Marc Eliot will take the part of her persistent Potenza admirers, and Joan Flavia Blomquist play two of her new sophisticated college friends. Also in the cast are George Loros, James Hennessey, John Churilla, Joe Vuccola, Steve Waltz, Laurel Honey, and Augie Miller. "Take Her, She's Mine" will run through Sunday July 23.

Perhaps John Chapman, the drama critic of the "New York Daily News" summed the play up the best when he wrote, 'Take Her, She's Mine' is not designed to kill you with laughter; all it wants to do is warm your heart." 'Way Out Wesf Delights First Children's Audience ROBERT S. BRAVARD Millbrook Playhouse's firs children's play of the season is excellent juvenile theatre In every respect "Way Ou West" is a rousing success. Fortunately for those who mis sed it, 'there will be repeat per formances on Friday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. and on Saturday July 22 at 1 and at 3 p.m Many factors combine to make this perhaps the bes children's play performed a Millbrook, but most importan is the care that went into this presentation. For this show, the managing director was in charge and at every level of production, taste and time were evident.

The plot is a kid sister version of Annie Get Your Gun and even the songs are pleasantly derivative. The size oj the cast, 19 in all, makes this a mini-epic. Under Frank Davidson's direction, the actors all project an innocent realism and unaffected ways, that keep the plot humming along. Flavia Potenza's choreography utilized square dance patterns to advantage and, in the hoedown scene, created patterns of striking grace. Cynthia Ericson as Hawkeye Hannah had an agreeable air of tomboyish innocence.

Her manners were direct and there never was any doubt concerning her motives. Augie Miller created a swaggering cowboy as Shootin' Sam, the deadeye desperado. His striking costume and his easy ways quickly won over the children. Doris Geringer did a very nice job with the hackneyed role of Ellie Mae. Miss Geringer was properly coy without being cloying.

Perhaps the comdey find of the season is Joe Briendel. In the role of Chief White Cloud, he remained impassive in the face of endless provocation. This solemn air was continued even through his participation in a rousing square dance. Mr. Briendel's timing, his monotone grunts, his excellent makeup fine comic elements.

The fumbling town mayor was nicely handled by Steve Waltz. Mary Anne Tennis and James Hennessy were effective as Hannah's sister and brother. The Happyville townspeople included Joan Bergstresser, Joan Blomquist, Laurel Honey, Elaine Houser, Suzanne Keefer, Mary Logan, Connie McLaughlin, Joyce Miller, Linda.Nicho- las, Stephanie Reagan, Sandy Ryan, and Mike Vuccola. Both the songs and their rendition were generally good and the dancing was excellent. "Way Out West" obviously scored heavily with its youthful audience and it deserved to. It is nicely staged and attractively performed.
