Canteen Plans fa lCounciI Fetes Halloween Program Cohoes' largest Halloween party will be held Saturday night at the St.

Agnes' Canteen i'or an expected 700 to 800 -teen-agers from throughout the area. Preparations were underway last night at the canteen- on Johnston Extensive decorations in the Halloween spirit are being handled by George Trahan, a member of the St. Agnes' parish. Rev. Alfred Ashline, assistant pastor and canteen director, announced that many parishioners, teen-agers and adults, have volunteered help at the party.

Arrangements are being taken care of by the canteen's founders, including Father Ashline, Dr. A. J. Vinci, Robert Hanlon and Raymond Fremont. Cider and doughnuts will be distributed, and an entertainment, program is being planned by teenagers from the Cohoes area.

The door? will open at 8:30 a.m. and the party will continue to 11:30 p.m. Music for dancing will be furnished by Earl Kent and his orchestra. It will mark the first in a series of special holiday parties at the canteen. Othc-rs are scheduled for Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter.

Volunteering their help are Miss Catherine Murphy, Miss Mary Jane Cox and William Sorel, in charge of tickets; and William Conboy and Robert-Lawlor, cloakroom. Approximately forty adult members of the parish will assist with the refreshments, the entertainment and the general program. Police Chief Joseph R. Garrett today issued a warning that vandalism will not be tolerated during the Halloween observance. He said that police have no desire to interfere with a happy observance of the occasion but warned youngsters against damaging or de-' stroying properly.

Chief Garrett said that parents should know where their are and what they are doing on Halloween. He pointed out that parents will be held responsible for any damage caused by their children.
