Flying Club Has Election; Plan to Buy Airplane DECORAH Dewey Tatro was elected president of the Decorah Flying Club at its annual meeting held recently at the Teslow Sales and Service garage. Other officers elected were Mel Trehus, vice president; Jesse Wepler, secretary-treasurer, and Bill Fitch, financial secretary. The Decorah board of directors includes Tatro, Joe Nelson, Trehus, Wepler and Mel Teslow.

The Decorah Flying Club now has two airplanes and a hanger, built by the club under supervision of Spencer Mulford, who is an active club member. The club membership now totals 15. Other active local members Include George Knudson, Leonard Karnik and Bernie Loftsgaard. Officials of the club said that plans were being made to obtain another airplane this summer. The new plane would be for cross country flying.

Dr. E. M. Smith Is Rotary President EAGLE GROVE Dr. E.

M. Smith has been elected president of the Eagle Grove Rotary Club succeeding M. B. Crabbe and will take over his new duties on July 1. Other officers elected at a recent meeting of the club include Cornell Deeny, vice president; Marvin Franzen, secretary, and Orvin Uhr, treasurer.

Dr. Wayne Emerson and Grigg Elkin were named to the board of directors. The newly elected officers will attend spring training schools and conferences. GOP Will Elect 33 Delegates to State Convention DECORAH The Winneshiek County Repulican convention will be held at 10 a.m. at the Decorah Courthouse Friday.

Don Hunziker, chairman of the Republican Central Committee, said the purpose of the meeting is to elect 33 delegates to the state Presidential Convention at Des Moines April 6, to name a number of junior delegates to the state Presidential convention and to consider any resolutions that may have been- prepared by the precinct caucuses. The election of junior delegates enables juniors and seniors of high school age to attend a political convention and view the actual operations. Methodist Conference March 21 at Swea City SWEA CITY The Rev. S. Hammer announces the fourth quarterly conference for the Grant and the Swea City Methodist Churches will be March 21 at the Swea City church at 8 p.m The Rev.

L. Preul, Algona, and district superintendent for the Algona district, will be present. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. Thornton Contributes $317.97 to Polio Anna Chris- tension, -chairman of the polio drive, has announced that Thornton has contributed $317.97. A total of $62.94 was collected from coffee parties, $54.12 was raised at school and $1.39 from a circus given by Sally Hopkey.

N. Saddle Meets at Alia Vista ALTA March meeting of the North Iowa Saddle Club featured a potluck supper. The evening was spent square dancing and playing bingo. Members from Alta Vista, Marble Rock, Nashua and Elma attended. GIVE YOUR DOG A LIFT will him and happy.
