Parnell scored his double in the 100 and 220 as District 7 (the WPlAL) and Willlamsport copped Gats A honors. District 1 and Camp Hill were the front-runners in Class B. Only Class A champion to be dethroned was high jumper Walt Mangham of New Castle, who failed to hurdle the bar at 6 feet 1 after winning the event last year at 6-5 4 Once this spring lie topped the national record with a jump of feet, 9 inches. The winner was Gary Jenkins of Homestead, who cleared 6-3.

48.7 QUARTER-MILE In Class Tyrone's Dick Hambright won the 440 for the second straight year in a record 48.7 seconds; Haverford smashed its one-year-old mark with a clocking of 1:305 in the half-mile relay; Williamsport's mile relay team raced home in record 3:24,2, and Latrobe's Andy Stynchula set a discus record of 166 feet, 94 Inches. Other new records, all in Class were set by Dick Campbell of Morrisville, who won the high jump at 6-1T4, Viscount Nelson of Oxford Area, who ran the low hurdles in 20 seconds flat and Darby's mile relay team, which finished in 3:27.1. I TIB District 7 scored 82H points in Class A. District 1, the run- nerup, finished with 55. In Class District 7 placed third with 35 points.

District 1 scored 62 and District 3 was second with 58tt. South Hills scored 12 points for District 8 and Mt. Dale Long Gets new Contract PITTSBURG A fat salary Increase was on tap Sunday for the Pittsburg Pirates' Dale Long in appreciation of his fabulous slugging this season. General Manager Joe L. Brown announced Saturday night that Long's present contract would be torn up and replaced by one calling for a "sizable" increase. The announcement came after Long became the first player in major league history to hit home runs in seven straight wames. Several of the game's greatest slug gers shared the old mark of six- in-six.

Long leads the National League in homers with 13 and also tops practically every other hitting de partment in the league. Brown declined to discuss the first baseman's salary figures.
