M. Wednesday. HERBERT T. KELLER Of 138 Altoona avenue, Enola, died unexpectedly while at work as a machinist in the Enola enginehouse Monday. Mr.

Keller was born on Feb. 17, 1884, in Florida, a son of Charles and Annie (McCourtney) Keller. Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Alice Keller: one son, Dr.

Charles H. Keller of Napierville, four grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Carl Bitzer of Pittsburg. Ruth MeKee of Hollidaysburg, Charles F. of Pittsburg, Joseph S.

of Thomas J. of Altoona, George W. of Hollidaysburg and William M. of Merion. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church in Enola, of Hailman lodge, F.

A. Pittsburg. the Harrisburg consistory, Scottish Rite club of Blair county, and the Junior Mechanics. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 7 P. M.

E. Purinton of Baltimore, Md. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren church of Juniata, and the Men: Bible class, also Centre Hall grange, the B. of L. F.

and the Retired Men's club of Juniata. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the James Saleme funeral home, Juniata. JOSEPH E. MANGUS Of 1339 Ninth avenue, Juniata, died Tuesday morning at 8:02 o'clock at the Altoona hospital. Mr.

Mangus was born in Altoona Dee. 24, 1887, the son of Cyrus A. and Mary E. (Evans) Mangus. He retired as a machinist from the East Altoona roundin 1947 after 42 years' of the PRR.

Surviving his wife, Anna Mangus; a son, Herbert, of the U. S. navy; three daughters, Mrs. H. R.

Wilkins of Juniata Gap, Mrs. L. C. Magill of Altoona and Mrs. Virginia Mann at home: seven grandchildren, a brother, Alfred Mangus of Altoona, and a sister, Mrs.

Irvin Tubbs of Lewistown. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial Methodist church. Juniata. Friends will be received at the Mauk and Yates funeral home, Juniata. MRS.

BERTHA MAY FRANTZ Died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Maude A. Herberling. 622 First avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock.

Mrs. Frantz was born in Martha. Mar. 18, 1881, a daughWilliam and Maria Louise (Eckley) Johnsonbaugh. She was married to Britton Lynn Frantz, who preceded her in death in 1918.

She was a former resident of Tyrone. Surviving are these children: Horace L. and Ralph, R. of Tyrone. Leroy F.

PRR Changes Freight Agent The Pennsylvania Railroad has transferred Harry F. Slonaker, 208 Coleridge avenue, Llyswen, to Hagerstown, Md. For the past two years he has served here as assistant passenger, baggage and freight agent and will act in a similar capacity at the new post. Jay R. Miller, holder of the same kind of a position with the PRR at Lebanon, has been named for the Altoona post.

Slonaker came to Altoona Mar 16, 1948, from the Philadelphia Terminal division where he started his railroad career as a clerk. Before coming to this city he spent all but seven years at Philadelphia. The only other position was on the Maryland division. activities. He is pursuing the college preparatory course, his interest pointing toward the engineering field.

Another merited feature of the boy Mr. O'Donnell pointed out was his excellent attendance record at Sunday school. President Robert W. Anthony presiding at the business session announced that members of the Optimist club will join other service clubs in aiding in the decoration of the Veterans hospital. George J.

Nader, chairman of the third annual club Christmas party, announced that the affair will be held Sunday afternoon at the Juniata pavilion and about 100 children are expected to attend Nader assisted by Milton Gould, Bill Stellabotte and Bill Elden announced that Santa Claus will be on hand to distribute candy to the children. Focht, telephone operator, Frank S.

Smith, assistant cashier, and Norman F. Lane, president. A cash gift of $250 and an extra week of vacation were awarded the trio THRO spent a quarter century in employ of First National. Presentation was made by Director Charles N. Cohn.

A buffet dinner was served. Don France as Santa Claus distributed the gifts in the exchange. The Kiwanis Choir directed by Howard W. Lindaman presented an excellent musical program. Selections included Nobel's "Peace, It Is by the choir; a folk tune.

"Christmas by the choir: Young's "Come Hither Ye by the choir: Kountz' "Choral of Sheep by the choir: soprano solo, "Song In the Air" by O'ey Speaks sung by Inda Cummings. Holy by Adams, solo by Don Harrison, Smith's "Sing We Noel" by the choir, Gruber's "Silent Night" by choir with Lilian Cassidy soloist. The employes committee which arranged for the Christmas party included Miss June Bowman, Miss Joyce Bulick, Miss Jean Matolay and Bruce Bigelow. Optimist Club Augustine Named Boy Of The Month The coveted honor of the December Optimist Boy-of-theMonth was be owed on Elwood Augustine Tuesday evening by Attorney Jubelirer, guest of honor at the club. The 16 year old youth was presented with a framed Optimist club creed and jacket. Mr. Jubelirer was introduced by Carl Bruckner, past president of the club, and addressed the members on the subject "Prospectives of Opportunities for Youth in the Future." "The opportunities for youth to. day lies in armed force; and services of the country in view of the projected universal military training," Attorney Jubelirer said.

The speaker conluded that youth today will have to sacrifice individual desires to serve the country.
