Sallisaw Trust Go. Decides Not to Reduce Capital Stock.

At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sallisaw Bank Trust Company held Wednesday night, it was decided after a thorough canvass of conditions surrounding Sal'isaw, that everything indicated the people of the community were going to be in need of a large amount of funds to run them during 1916. The bank wants to do its full in financing the legitimate needs of the good people of the community and the fear was expressed that if the bank reduced its capital, it would not be able to care for the needs of some of its customers that are worthy of credit. And it being the desire of the Directors not to restrict the usefulness of the bank in any particular, it was unanimously decided not to carry out plans heretofore considered of reducing the capital stock Bv this action the directors of Pres. Wilson and Bride Honeymoon on Hot Springs, Dec. 19- Pi esident Wilson and his bride, the former Mrs Norman Gait, arrived here shortly after 9 o'clock Sunday morning to spend their honeymoon.

They were met at the station by a crowd of several hundred people, who applauded as they, alighted from their private car. The couple went immediately to their hotel in an automobile. The distinguished couple upon whom the eyed of the nation turned last night when they were married in Washington came here to begin their married life in the the quiet seclusion of the mountains of the state in which both of them were born. They were followed here by the Sallisaw Bank Trust Company again show their desire to aid the development of Sallisaw and community by maintaining their capital at $50,000.00, which together with their surplus fund assures all patrons worthy of credit that the bank they do business with will have ample means on hand to supply all legitimate wants. Gentry near Muldrow. Thomas J. Watts of Muldrow has been employed to defend Turney and secured a continuance until the next term of court as he was not prepared to go into at this term, as the killing took place only a short time ago. It is asserted by the lawyers and those acquainted with Mr. Watts, whfenhe announces ready, there, will be ho question about his being ready.

Thin week marked the closing ol the criminal term of the District Court, and in order that the people of the County may know fully of toe work done by the County Attorney, Joe Bailey Allen, ably assisted by A. E. Montgomey, Deputy, we publish a review of the oases tried and the disposition of the criminal docket.

There were a total of 20 criminal cases before the Court during the term, and of this number two were continued, being the canes of the State vs George Gommgdeor and Joe Turney, both murder oases, There was only one acquittal, that of the State vs Charley Barks; and one mis-trial, the case of the State vs Sam Hunter. We publish below a list of convictions and please of guilty, a majority of whom were sentenced to the penitentiary: CONVICTED BY JURY Dave Faulkner, fine and jail sentence. W'Hiam Holmes, 10 years in the penitentiary. Dan Johns, fine George Russell, fine and jail sentence. Foster Wood, 3 years in tho penitentiary.

Stella GoiDts suspended sentence. Walter Jones, 2 years 6 mouths in the penitentiary. Robert Sullivan and Joe Wilson 5 years in the penitentiary. Abe Dodson, 1 year in the penitentiary. Chas.

Jotnson, 2 yearB in Ibe penitentiary. John fine and jail sentence. E. S. Fain, 10 years in the penitentiary.

PLEAS OF GUILTY Ned Locust, '2 yearn in penitentiary. George Thompson, 3 years in penitentiary. This being Mr, Allen's first real term of criminal work in the District it indeed speaks highly of iiis ability to discharge the duties jf lire oflice of County Attorney. A real County Attorney is not to be judged by the number of canes lie tries or necessarily the number of convictions he secures. The secret behind the success of Mr.

Allen in the present lerm of Court is the fact that he has thoroughly sifted the evidence before goiig into a and assur.ng himself that the accused is really guilty of the crime charged. Mr. Alleu lias been noted for ihe cartful iuves i- gaiioDS he makes before filing charges against a man accused ol a crime, and assuring himself oi a man's guilt before a charge of any kind is placed against him. This is plainly the reason that ne has be. so successful at this term of ihe Court.
