Andre will direct the music for Martini on the new program. WHN Gets Fight I i n'-'l i DTuaacvusi rnuiiegts Louis K. Sidney, managing director of WHN, just signed a contract with Madison Square Garden, which gives his station the exclusive rights to aU the fights by the This contract in con-Junction with the one that gives WHN the exclusive fights from Mike Jacob's Hippodrome and also the exclusive contracts held by WHN for the fights from the St Nicholas Arena, Coliseum and the Ridgewood Grove, makes of WHN the fight center of the metropolitan area. The Garden broadcasts will also be piped through the Yankee Network as per an agreement between Mr. Sidney of WHN and John Shepard of the Tankee Network.

Sam Taub will do the actual descriptive on all fights assisted between rounds by Charles Vackner and Brooke Temple. The WHN fight schedule reads as follows: Mondays St Nicholas Arena-Tuesdays Coliseum. Wednesdays Hippodrome. Fridays Madison Square Garden. Saturdays -Ridgewood Grove.

With the exception of the St Nicholas Arena the fights will be broadcast at 9:45 P. M. The St. Nicholas bouts go on at 9:30. Another feature In conjunction with the snorting activities of WHN is the signing of Jack Kofoed, were few and far between.

DJC and the other outlets, although having a fair amount of propaganda on their daily schedules, also offer good concert music and martial airs which make for excellent listening. The British Broadcasting Com pany seems to have improved on Its technical equipment and lately rolls through the speaker without so much as a buzz. Sport events, totally unexciting when described by station announcers, have been making up a large portion of current programs. These dull affairs are brightened, however, by variety shows and London's version of the latest dance tunes.

2RO In Romo opens each program, and closes them with the playing of the Italian Royal March and the Fasclstl anthem, "Giovi-nezza." The American Hour on this sta-tion, usually at 6 P. consists of news bulletins In English, the same In Italian and a symphonic concert or operatic excerpts. The striking of Big Ben, London's famous clock in the towers of the Parliament Building, has become famous among short wave listeners the world over. Another clock Is now vicing with Big Ben for popularity on the airwaves. It Is the big tower clock in Melbourne, Australia, strikes the hour promptly it 7 A.

The only broadcasting station now in operation In Angola, Bouth Africa, Is a small, privately-owned station at Lobito, which uses the call letters "CR6AA." This station has a power of 500 watts and broadcasts on a short-wave length of 41.8 meters with a frequency of 7.17 megacycles. Broadcasts occur for two hours twice weekly. Wednesday and Saturday from 2:30 P. M. to 4:30 P.

M. The station has no general program policy and In reality is only an amateur enterprise operated for pleasure by a radio enthusiast It broadcasts no advertising. George Hall, CBS orchestra leader, makes his first Broadway stage appearance In six years when he heads the show at Loew's State for a week beginning Oct 2. over WABC, when M. H. H. Joachim, a native Hindu and psychologist, present the first of a series of weekly broadcasts to be known as "Your Unseen Friend." This unique dramatic series, the first of Its kind on the air, will feature dramatizations of incidents in everyday life, both trivial and profound. Joachim, as the voice of conscience, will speak forth at intervals during the dramatizations and will analyze and Interpret the difficulties which mortals can avert if they will but listen to the voice within themselves.

No attempt will be made to offer advice. Aside from the desire to present an Interesting and arresting dramatic series, the single purpose of "Your Unseen Friend" will be to enable listeners to solve their own problems by listening to the voice within themselves. COMICS GOING SERIOUS Arthur Fields and Fred Hail, NBC's singing comics, are planning to turn serious on us. "They're auditioning a script show of their own called "Over the Backyard Fence." In which they are to play straight dramatlo roles. However, their WEAF Streamliners broadcasts, heard six times weekly, wlU continue as usual.
