and rescue teams endured snow and subfreezing temperatures Sunday as they searched for a 52-year-old Toutle man who was reported missing Saturday evening The Cowlitz County Office said Daniel family had expected him to walk to his home on Carnine Road from a nearby residence where he had been housesitting They anticipated he would arrive at around 6 pm Saturday but never showed up officials said public session to select a board member The member will be sworn in that evening The position was declared vacant a year ago and filling it has been delayed while the district absorbed the Vader School District The school board meets at 5:30 pm in room 217 of the Castle Rock Middle School 615 Front Ave South Budget matters on the agenda for Castle Rock City Council The Castle Rock City Council will deal with budgets salaries and utility rates at its regular meeting tonight The council already adopted the 2009 budget and raised city fees and utility rates but must take a second vote the Woodland School District had planned to build a new high school may again become farmland at least temporarily The district purchased the vacant land off Dike Road in 2005 but voters in March rejected a $50 million bond to build the new school there The measure received 54 percent approval but fell short of the 60 percent supermajority needed for passage On Monday the school district signed an agreement under which the Port of Woodland will manage the property and lease it out for farming its historic use School Superintendent Michael Green said the agreement with the port not to make a lot of money for the school Rather to help maintain the land unknown what might be grown on the land Green said The port will use lease revenues to cover its management costs he added The district has not abandoned the idea of building a high school on the property Because some voters objected to the Dike Road site the district is still deciding whether the new school should be built
