Deo. 11. A steady tons prevailed at the opening of the stock market today, with price movements generally confined to fractions. Steel common ad vanced to 87 and Bethlehem Steel rose to 75. Bethlehem Steel rose 1H to American Tobacco declined over one point at the start to 139, but quickly rallied to 140.

Anaconda rose 4 to 5614 and Utah -made the same advance to 78. Marine preferred advanced, to 92 14. The railroad issues Were fractionally lower. After the first fifteen minutes the mar ket tone became generally heavy. Pullman declined six points to ioht.

The tobacco issues were again in supply, American Tobacco dropping from 141 to 137 followed by an upturn ot two points. Pennsylvania declined to a new low record of 44. There was fairly large trading In Union Pacific which declined lVs to 109 1. The railroad issues generally suffered declines of about one point The copper stocks were quiet with the exception of Anaconda which was actively traded In, ranging from fi to 684. The steel industrials were moderately lower.
