Stocks were irf good demand at the opening ot the stock; market today, prices during the initial trading showing gains of from fractions to over 1 point. The tobacco stocks continued their upward movement, Tobacco Products selling up Hi to 52 while United Cigar Stores advanced H4 to 92.

Steel common ranged from 97 to at the opening compared with 0H st the close Saturday. Bethlehem Steel sold up one point to 82 and Republic advanced to 79. Marine preferred advanced 1 to 9714 and the common rose hi to 26'. International Paper moved up 1ft to 25 and American Can advanced one point to 874. General Electric fell 2Yi to 127.

Liberty 8Vs sold at from 88.80 to 98.92 and the 4's were traded in from 9T.92 to 97.98. Price movements were mixed after the first fifteen minutes with a number of Issues showing a heavy tone and sustaining moderate losses while others were in brisk demand.
