m. PITTSBURGH (Continued lrom Page 1) Police have requested owners of about 5,000 automobiles stranded in the downtown area to remove them so that streets can be cleaned from curb to curb. As soon as major routes are cleared, the cleanup workers will start on parking areas. Mayor Lawrence said the car blockade was removed because the mass transportation system is approaching normal and the area largely has been cleared of snow. He asked persons with essential business in the Triangle to share rides in their cars so that one vehicle carries as many passengers as possible.

The city also asked residents to clear paths for school children when they return to classes Moo-day. Most Pittsburgh and parochial schools will be closed until then. Trolley service in the city returned to 80 percent of normal and driving conditions in the district were improved in general. Motorists turned back at the edge of the downtown area by the blockade however, created congestions in areas where they stopped.
