NLRB hearing on PUD work dispute is held The National Labor Relations Board held another segment of a hearing in Longview Tuesday between the Cowlitz PUD, Copenhagen Co. and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The NLRB is mediating a dispute between Copenhagen an electrical cable burying firm, and the union, to determine who has jurisdiction over cable burying. Copenhagen was hired by the PUD to install underground cable.

But the company hires members of another union to operate the equipment. IBEW says Copenhagen should hire electrical workers rather than members of Operating Engineers Local 701 to bury electric cable. The NLRI. was called in by the PUD to handle the matter. Testimony for evaluation was taken last month and Tuesday.

The hearing will be reconvened on Jan. 14, 15 and 16 for final-ization. Whan the hearing is closed the NLRB will examine the issues and probably reach a decision next spring.
