And so Freberg, Ltd. was born to prove that humor can move products. It has done so with startling results, frequently by aiming the point of satire at outmoded, hard-sell advertising approaches. Born in Los Angeles, Freberg first began puncturing the balloons of pomposity at Alhambra (near Los Angeles) High School (Icenoclast of '44).

Following graduation, he declined seholarshios to -POM CHAIR Walt Disney, etc. His versatility as a puppeteer, radio actor, musician, cartoon voice, recording artist, and writer have led him into the many areas of success and popularity since. In January of 1959, his secretary. Donna Andresen, removed him from the eligible bachelor list. They were married by Stan's father, now a retired Baptist minister.

The Frebergs live in Beverly Hills in an old Spanish villa which they have painstakingly restored. Freberg, who seldom works less than a sixteen-hour day, is never without several major projects. After finishing the special, he expects to divide his attention between his Freberg, Ltd. clients, a Broadway musical he has been working on for three years, a Co whtr yon want to go Whin you want loao! On a national level, he has been seen on such programs as "The Frank Sinatra Show," and a series of "Chevy Shows" in the summer of 1958. There's an old adage that "What's worth doing is worth doing well." Freberg's success can be attributed in large part to his carrying the proverb even further: "If it can't be done perfectly, it's not worth doing at all." His penchant for perfection is reflected on the walls of his advertising consultant firm, Freberg, in an old Charles Addams type house on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. There hang some 35 plaques, medals, and awards for his brilliant advertising campaigns for such clients as Kaiser Aluminum Foil, Butter-Nut Coffee, Sala-da Tea, Cheerios, TV Guide Magazine, and of course Chun King Chow Mein. In 1957 he was asked to fill Jack Benny's radio slot and did so writing, editing, and starring in a series of hilarious and satirical sketches, which were later assembled into one of his biggest-selling albums, "The Best of the Stan Freberg Shows." Stan was told no sponsor could be found for his kind of show be- Stan Freberg is one of those rare phenomena in American entertainment history to have achieved success and public and critical acclaim in a very short span of time.

On Feb. 4 the ABC-TV Network will bundle his many talents into an hour-long satirical special, "Stan Freberg Presents: The Chun King Chow Mein Hour," pre-empting "Maverick" that night, which happens to be the eve of the Chinese New Year. In Freberg's words, "This show represents several firsts, I believe. The first special without a guest star; the first time the noted graphic designer Saul Bass has consented to design an entire television production; the first time I have ever done an hour television special for a Chinese food company on the eve vof Chinese New Year." Actually, it is his first major TV effort, though he is no stranger to the medium. From 1950 to 1955 he starred in the West Coast television series, "Time for Beany." The puppet show began as a children's program but rapidly emerged as a highly sophisticated program for the entire family.

During its run it picked up three Emmys, 20 other awards and a distinguished audience which included Lionel Barrymore, Lana Turner, Tony Curtis, Janet ASSETS Real Estate Mortgages and Contracts $2,468,816.94 Property Improvement Loans 106,887.00 Passbook Loans 7,846,85 Real Estate Owned 53,231.35 Cash in Banks 274,124.15 U.
