Our permanent collection of prints covers all fields and periods but has specialized in 9th and 20th Century European and American work, and was one of the first museums to do so." Since the beginning of the collection there has been a noticeable increase of public interest in the art. One explanation by Miss Johnson suggests that "Fine prints are among the most accessible and democratic of ail artistic creations.

The fact that they are "multiple originals" makes them available to a larger public for a much smaller price than paintings or pieces of sculpture. DL 74044. SHOW TIME: The report is out that the late Danton Walker musical spoof of Provincetown will be making its New York debut on October 1 at the Provincetown Playhouse in Greenwich Village. The play will be dubled "The Provincetown Show" and should have a comfortable run. The production was arranged through the efforts of Constantine Soloyanis, right-hand Tnan to Dan at the Daily News which featured the Walker column about inside doings of the world. It's a fitting tribute.

We saw the show in Provincetown, the night Dan-ton passed away. In an enchanting little theatre right smack on the wharf, the show played to a capacity audience and was known as "The Provincetown Pirates." It was a spoof on the beatniks of prohibition times when rum-running was the big thing for the Portuguese fishermen who inhabit the light little Cape Cod playground. The introduction to what was to take place usually was handled by Danton Walker, himself. The night we were there, there was a substitute who just oozed with charm and set the audience ready for a delightful evening. One was just in the right frame of mind to enjoy the most enchanting and exhilarating performance.

Between acts there was free drink dispursed from a huge "bowl on the platform overlooking the ocean with its twinkl- ing lights and full moon. We hope the same feeling is tured the New York run when those on stage and in the dience are all part of the show. The first words "This is President Eisenhower speaking J' were received at a Bell Telephone Laboratories installation atop Crawford Hill at 7:41 a.m. (9DT).

The message was transmitted from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Ooldstone, Calif. The President's message was part of the Project Echo experiments now being conducted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Bell Telephone Laboratories and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. To transmit the President's message. Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists beamed microwave signals at a 100-foot diameter sphere which had been placed into robit earlier from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The aluminum-coated sphere, 1,000 monstrated no interest in the pro per raising of their children.

According to his plan, these children would be placed in dormitory-like homes, each housing a total of 40 to SO youths. eHre, of their own free will, they would complete their educations at City schools, receive appropriate religious training, and -be guided into worthwhile channels. Above all there would be a healthy, wholesome atmosphere created. Turshen said that 1 a year's Citizens Legislative Conference on Juvenile Delinquency at Brooklyn Law School adopted the project as "necessary" in the fight to prevent legislation to set up these "towns," and indicated that ihe has received support from the State Youth Commission and the City Youth Board. The drive will include a letter-writing campaign to the Governor and legislative leaders; speaking engagements throughout the State; meetings with PTA's, youth agencies and other groups.

"Juvenile crime has increased five per cent during the first half of this year in the age group six through 20. Many of these children come from homes that have disintegrated. summer is just about over. The cool breezes made for pleasant evenings at home and but for a few humid days, the hat was bearable. There were no real hot, torrid days which earned into breezeless nights. Our little weather chart indicates that Indian Summer will -be a beautiful time. Chances are it will encourage a protracted vacation season with folks running to the mountains seeking to make up for lost week-ends.
