highways through the city Routes 22 68 and 73 was heavy throJiout the three days High temperature on Sunday was 53 de grees and high on Christmas Day Saturday was 46 It was perfect weather for trav eling but not so perfect for those youngsters who received ice skates and sleds for Christmas Snow seems to add something to the Christmas spirit and fun Low temperature Sunday night was 38 degrees and this morning broke partly cloudy with some promises of precipitation By noon the thermometer had reached 45 degrees and was still climbing ac cording to Mrs Ethel Hayes local weather observer TWO PERSONS were injured Saturday at 11:05 a in the col lision of a truck and car at the junction of Route 73 and New An tioch road Patrolman White said William 'Delian 57 of 308 North Mulberry street was driving north on New Antioch road and had stopped at the intersection The truck was hit in the rear by a taxi driven by Donald Hampton 44 421 Thorne avenue which also was going north Dehan suffered contusions of his left knee and right ankle and Hampton was taken to Clinton Me morial Hospital for observation A rupture for which he had had an operation four months ago was re injured Hampton was arrested for fol lowing too closely behind the truck and will be taken into court when he is released from the hospital Barton Sandlin 43 Pleasant Plain RD 1 escaped injury and there was only minor damage to his car when it skidded in loose gravel on a curve on Route 730 one mile south of Villars Chapel ri day at 4:30 and went into the ditch Sandlin was going south when the accident occurred Pa trolman Hobbs said Vehicles driven by Betty Hale 47 of Leesburg and James Toops 25 Columbus collided on Route 62 In Leesburg riday at 11:45 a Patrolman White said The Hale car was going south and junction with George road Thursday at 11:40 was ar rested riday Carr was fined $100 and Costs and sentenced to three days in jail by Mayor Nichols for leaving the scene of an accident and $25 and costs for failing to yield the right of ay Another mo torist stopped Carr after the acci dent and he was quoted as telling this motorist he stopped at the traf fic light at the intersection and i then went on when it was green There is no traffic light at this in tersection me was witnessed by two Yale professors at Weston Conn in 1807 Hiney House Wins in Port Decorations The Charles Hiney residence Port William won the Christmas home decoration contest sponsored by the Lions Club and the prize of $20 The Marvin Peterson resi dence near the village on Route 68 took second prize of $10 and the Clarence Sanders house in the vil lage won third prize of $5 They were judged Christmas Eve by John Boothby and Max Johnson of Bowersville The Lions think the contest went over successfully and created enough interest that they will spon sor the contest again and hope to make it an even bigger affair The Hiney and Sanders residenc es are outstanding principally for their lighting while the Peterson scene of Santa and his workshop has movable parts and conveyor belts move and carry the toys burning a hole through It flames climbed up the inside of the rear wall of the house and into the attic and roof of the residence Little damage was done to the house but a large quantity of new furniture and clothes which were stored in the attic was destroyed Hague said The grass pre which was started about 4:30 in the afternoon burned a strip of land In a field situated between the highway and the Bal timore and Ohio Railway com pany tracks No damage was done Cause of the blaze has not north of Wilmington Robin son was fined $100 and costs and sentenced to three days in the county jail today by Mayor Corwin Nichols Patrolman Hobbs said Hewitt was driving south on Route 68 and was attempting to make a right turn into Gurneyville road when his car was struck by the one driven by Robinson which also was going south There was minor dam age to toe rear of the Hewitt car CLETES BLANTON 36 of 70 Hulse street Sabina escaped in jury when his car went off the right side of the CCC Highway two miles west of Washington and struck a culvert Sunday at 2:30 a Patrolman Dwight Holloway aaid Blanton told Patrolman Hol loway he was lighting a cigarette and lost control of his car A cir driven by Russell Shaw of Highland ran off Route 28 three miles east of the Highland Clinton county line Saturday evening and went through a fence belonging to John Schruber of Highland RD 1 but Shaw was not injured 74 Per Cent Of Herds May Have Bangs The brucellosis milk ring test which was conducted In six Clinton county townships Monday Dec 20 revealed 74 per cent of the 488 herds tested were infected with the brucellosis bacilli or that some oth er condition existed that made herds test suspicious red Zeig ler of the Ohio Department of Division of Animal Industry who is conducting the tests reported today All dairymen who have herds that tested suspicious are advised to request that their animals be blood tested These blood tests are administered free of charge to the dairy producer A total of 488 herds and 4691 cows wefe tested in the six town ships Only 36 herds showed suspi cious tests Wayne township showed the lowest percentage of Bangs infected herds Two of 81 dairy herds tested suspicious for a percentage of 23 Jefferson township had 10 herds which test ed suspicious for the highest per centage of infected herds Of the 57 herds tested in that township 175 per cent are Infected accord ing to toe milk ring test findings The percentage of infection in the other four townships in which herds were tested follow: Washing ton 36 per cent Chester 55 per cent Union 76 per cent and Lib erty 123 per cent I The milk ring test is by no means conclusive It merely shows that there is a possibility that a 1 herd testing suspicious may be in felted with the dreaded brucellosis i or Bangs disease bacilli A blood test for each animal in the herd I ire curred Sunday Wilmington ire Chief Harry Hague III report ed today The fire at the paber residence started about 2:30 a Hague said Cause of the blaze was said to be a naked electric light bulb which
