The radio station started the operation at 3:15 p.

m. Tuesday.1 Listeners telephoned from Cali-, fornia, New York, Washington, D. Texas, Nevada and 15 other states to pledge contributions. They were urged by KMOX to make their checks payable simply to the American Red Cross and mail them to Red Cross headquarters, 4901 Washington avenue. The station reported one casualty. A Red Cross volunteer, Robert Ebling of Venice, telephone worker slipped while walking into the station and thought he twisted an ankle. He worked from 11:30 p. m. to 4:30 a.
