The radio station started the operation at 3:15 p.

m. Tuesday.1 Listeners telephoned from Cali-, fornia, New York, Washington, D. Texas, Nevada and 15 other states to pledge contributions. They were urged by KMOX to make their checks payable simply to the American Red Cross and mail them to Red Cross headquarters, 4901 Washington avenue. The campaign lasted for 26 hours, during which such personalities as Sophie Tucker, Ted Lewis, the Ames Brothers, Frankie Laine, Tony Martin and the Ritz Brothers called to make their pledges.

Mr. Lewis volunteered to do a one-night benefit in St. Louis for the tornado victims. Arthur Godfrey, after a long distance telephone conversation with Robert F. Hyland station manager, broadcast an appeal over the station for contributions.

The station reported one casualty. A Red Cross volunteer, Robert Ebling of Venice, telephone worker slipped while walking into the station and thought he twisted an ankle. He worked from 11:30 p. m. to 4:30 a.

and finally went to a hospital. The ankle was broken. It was placed in a cast and he re- turned to his post and worked i from 6:30 to 8:30 a. m. Lions Club, Form Tornado Relief Fund Formation of a Lions Tornado Relief Fund was announced yesterday by Walter H.
