It was first and lest an offensive battle. Navy led at halftime 14-7. He fut Tulane ahead 21-14 early in he final period on a 25-yard touchdown run. Then Navy caipe back, eager for victory.

There have only been two ta the previous 20 games, both this season. Starting on Navjns 38, Jas- trow tossed a short one to Bill Powers, who ran to the Tulane 28 with two minutes left ta the game. Twice more Zastrow passed and the ball was on Tulanes five. Duff Arnold carried it over to tie the score 21-21 in as exciting a game as any one could ask. NAVY OPENED the contest ta an authoritative way by driving 88 yards to a touchdown.

A pass, Zastrow to Powers goodr for 31 yards, sent the Middies spinning down to the Tulane 49. Vic Vine took over with plunges, finally carrying over from the one. Tulane then made its 96-yard march. With 45 secondi to go in the first half. Navy took the ball on downs on the Navy 48 and cut loose.

Zastrow passed to End Lawrence Treadwell for 42 yards to the Tulane 10. An offside penalty against Tulsne put Navy on the five, and Vine smashed over with 22 seconds left to go. The two great offensive stars almost matched each other in yardage. Tulenes Price carried the ball 22 times, lost only five yards, and made the astounding net gain of 238 yards. Navys Zastrow throw tho ball 32 times, with 13 passes completed for a nat gain of 229 yards, no lass astounding.

Tulane was a two-touchdown favorite. Each team however, had been beaten by Notre Dame by almost identical margins. The Irish blasted Tulane 47-7, and Navy 40-0. THE TRYS FOR POINT after touchdown, which ta the end proved so important were executed flawlessly. Euel Davis kicked all three for Tulane, and Roger Drew matched him for Navy.

His showing on defense has been notable as his height is instrumental ta knocking down enemy passes. He will probably see action against the Bulldogs. This game will mark the Waves last appearance before the home folks as the last two games will be played on the road. Howard and Troy have met only once in history.
