Ruffian eulogy Sports Editor: I am inclined to agree with Bruno Sniders (July 7: "Eulogy of Ruffian an example of twisted if only because one of the veterinarians on the scene indicated that the horse may have been over-raced. The veterinarian said that some horses are subjected to abnormal pressure and on my reviewing of Ruffian's races and winnings in her short life, I believe she was one of them.

It looks like another case of human greed vs. love of animals. It could be the owner was also mourning the loss of future monetary gains. Crocodile tears, anyone? Mildred Cameron San Bernardino Sports Editor I fully disagree with the article written by Bruno Sniders. In my opinion I think the untimely death of such a fantastic horse such as Russian can only be described as a terrible, tragic incident.

If given the chances, I believe she would have been the greatest racing thoroughbred ever. According to Mr. Sniders' thinking, the great Albert Einstein was only a man with a trained mind. I believe Mr. Sniders' mind is trained in the wrong direction.

Mrs. Geo. Cheesman Colton Sports Editor I was shocked at the analysis by Bruno Sniders. He should be an obiturary riter. Although, come to think of it, he probably wouldn't fit there either as he seems to have no feelings for the dying or the deed man or beast.

We horse fans will continue to mourn our loss not only of Ruffian, but also Alvara Pineda, Juan Gonzales and Mike Phelps. Because we feel we have known these jockeys and this "dumb animal, but certainly cannot take time to be mourning every person, or even every animal, that dies or is killed in Jiis big country. Then we would have no time for the living. But let us mourn those we have come to know and love in our own way and not downgrade others for what Mr. Sniders cannot feel.

So in closing I say to Mr. Sniders May it always rain on your picnic. Phyllis J. Redmond Rialto (If this does happen at Mr. Sniders' picnic, I'm sure hell have the good sense to come In out of the rain.

It is indeed strange that thpy should complain because Steve Garvey might not want to look and act like them.

Ron Cey says that Garvey affects his style. But what style does Cey have? To run like a penguin is to have style, I suppose.
