Auburn, a snarling young Tiger BY BRAVEN DYER LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8 Southern fans who have (allowed interest the success of Alabama and Georgia Tech in post-season gamti at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena will no doubt be to hear that Wallace Wade's 1930 grid creation is already being seriously considered as a worthy foe for the Far Wests representative next Tournament of Roses classic. Right now Alabama has the inside track, although Georg a being considered.

We of the West, feel, however, that unlikely to remain undefeated after going through the rest of a r.airderosi schedule. Eastern teams listed as possibilities are Dartmouth, Notre Fordhim and Northwestern. Dartmouth is practically out, hovve: inasmuch as the Big Green meets Stanford at Palo Aito Nov. 29 ar.d -is unlikely that this team could be prevailed upon to return to the Coast for another game. (AV-Held scoreless for a half by a fighting Baylor eleven, the University of Texas had enough power in the third and fourth periods to score two touchdowns and win their Important Southwest Conference melee here Saturday, 14 to 0. Had It not been for the splendid kicking of little Jake Wilson. Baylor quarterback, the Steers probably would have piled up a larger score.

Texas struck first midway of the third period, when Koy shot a short, underhand pass to Stafford, big sophomore halfback, who tore through the Baylor secondary behind clocklike blocking and sprinted 63 yards for a touchdown. Blanton kicked the point. In the final period a substitute Texas backfleld marched half the length of the field for a touchdown through the tired Baylor line. Clewis slipped over the score, standing up. and Perkins made good the extra point.

It was the twelfth consecutive defeat for the Iowans in two years and Missouris first conference victory of the season.

Late in the second quarter the Tigers' quarter, Colllngs. caught a 20-yard pass from Vandyne, Tiger left end, and raced 35 yards across the goal line with the Iowans strung out behind him. In the next period after the Tigers had made a powerful drive down the field. Heitz tossed a short pass to Vandyne, who stumbled across the Iowa goal for another touchdown. Vandyne added both extra points.

Any young chap who proposes to pull himself up by his boot-strings and then conceives some original method of performing the trick is an object of interest. So young Mr. Wynne, who came down from the Missouri Valley to undertake the task of getting the Auburn grid machine out of the mire, will be a welcome visitor.

His product Is deserving and his efforts praiseworthy. Having battled Florida to a virtual tie, scaring Georgia Tech out of a half years growth, scrapping Georgia until his men wore themselves out with the effort; shelling Wofford with such rapid-fire scoring that it bewildered the visitors and finally holding Tdlane to a hard-fought 21-0 triumph; having achieved those things, the Tigers have done nothing less than distinguish themselves in the most laudatory manner. Wins Fame This game Auburn team has become the talk of the Southern ferenee and under tutorship of Wynne, some of the youngsters have been performing in scintillating fashion on the Plains. One of the best punters In the South in Hitchcock and a great ball carrier in Hatfield, who vies with Hitchcock in brilliant dashes, are among the exhibits Wynne will have for display here. As for Cagle and his Maroons, they have been faring but poorly.

Goussett, at center, and Scales at end, are valuable men, while Bridges, Horn, Lenoir and Thompson have been helping along with some good work. The game here will be Auburn's only showing of the season for Birmingham fans, while It will be the first time in several seasons that they have had a view of the Aggies. FOOTBALL RESULTS Georgetown Wins Over Boston Team Via Passing, 20-19 BUCKEYES SHOW FULL POWER IN 27-0 WIN Ten ruling against post-season games to surmount. So it comes down to Alabama, and there are thousands of fans in Southern California who will welcome the Crimson Tide to Pasadena for the third time. Ever since Johnny Mack Brown caught those marveloue passes from Grant GilUs to beat Washington, Los Angeles rooters have been strong for Dixie teams, and it is no secret that Wade will have plenty of support no matter what team he meets at the Rose Bowl.

To Remain Uniettled The Western situation will remain unsettled at least until Nov. 15, when Washington State and Washington meet at Seattle. Right now the mighty Cougars have the inside track, followed by Southern California and Oregon. If Washington State trims Washington the Cou-I gars are practically a load pipe I cinch to get the invitation Inasmuch I as everybody in Southern California is all hopped up over the prospect of seeing the teams which beat the Trojans 7 to 8 early in the year. I But if Washington pulls the unexpected and trims the Cougars, then Southern California steps into the picture again.

In which case there will be no decision until after Dec. 6, when the Trojans play Notre Dame. And should the Irish win this game, as seems likely, and Washington State lose to the Huskies, then C. Hal Reynolds and his Tournament of Roses committee might have to take Oregon. This team will probably be undefeated, due to a rather easy schedule, hut Oregon would not the drawing card that the Cougars and Trojans would be.

Washington State Is located at Pullman, 80 miles east from Spokane and Just eight miles from the border line between Washington and the state of Idaho. The school has about 3,000 students. It was Washington State which played Brown University at Pasadena on Jan. 1, 1916, In the first Tournament of Roses game of modern history. 8 In a bitterly contested game, Vanderbilt defeated Georgia Tech, Saturday, 6-0. Perhaps it would bo better to say Vandy outscored Tech, as no team is v.r defeated that played as well a.s Tech team did Saturday. Seldom does a coach of the losln? team feel like his boys have lore their very best. Before the game 1 felt that Vanderbilt had the better team, but at this moment I like Tech better than Vandy for the future. Penalties at inopportune moment and fumbles defeated Georgia Tech, Clean ball handling would have car tainly won the game In spite of the penalties that hurt like a knife thrust below the ribs.

Tech fumbled the ball five times Inside its yard line and five times dug their cleats in the ground and stopped Vandy's attack. A 15-yard penalty gave Vandy the ball on Techs 18-vard line and Vandy scored Its lone touchdown on a cleverly executed lateral pass. Early In the game Barron, for Tech, ran through the Vandy (earn 51 yards for a touchdown, but the play was called back and a 6 -yard penalty Imposed. The play was i reverse around Vandys end and caught the Vandy end and sc ondar asleep. In the third quarter, Tech's superior punting gained possession of the ball in midfield and unleashed a drive that carried to the Vandy 4-yard line.

On this drive the Tech team missed a first down on Vandy 4 -yard line by four inches. Vandy fought gamely and kept Tech in the hole with well placed punts after stopping the last Tech drive In the fourth quarter. For Vandy, Gracey at center, Schwartz at end, and Fortune at fullback, performed splendidly. The Tech interference could never do much with Schwartz and his punting was first class. Gracey, tho center, played a superb defensive game.

BY LATHROP MACK Associated Press Sports Writer MUNICIPAL STADIUM, Baltimore, Md Nov. 8 WOhio State rose to its full height Saturday and defeated Navy, 27 to 0, by playing almost perfect football and winning its most important intcrsectional victory in many years.

Victory was sweet to the Buckeyes, who had lost to Northwestern and Michigan and had been tied by Wisconsin in the Western Conference in the last three games. Seeking their first victory of the year over a foe of their own calibre, they overpowered an overrated Navy team, scoring in every period and showing superiority in every department of play. It was Navy's poor passing, Navys fumbling and Navy's poor pass defense which accounted for the four Ohio touchdowns, plus Ohio's smoother, harder running attack and Meeting Called By Dr. Denny To Talk BLOOMINGTON, Nov. OP) Northwestern's powerful football eleven swept aside Indiana, 25 to 0, in its dash toward a Western Conference championship before a homecoming crowd of 15,000 here Saturday.

The Wildcats, their appetite for victory whetted by the memory of Indiana upset victories of the past three years, presented Irresistible strength in the line and a deceptive passing attack. The Hoosier Jinx was smothered. Hank Bruder, the hard luck boy of the Big Ten, led the Purple team to victory with his running and accurate tosses. The big Wildcat line opened wide holes in the Indiana defense through which Russell and Moore plunged for whatever yardage was needed. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers were unable to dent Northwesterns defense.

The Wildcats wasted no time in proving their superiority. After taking a Hoosier punt early in the first period on their own 28 -yard line, the Purple backs broke through for two first downs and then Bruder passed to Russell, 36 yards away, on the Crimson five-yard line. On the third attempt Russell plunged over, and Bruder place kicked goal. Taking the next kick off the Wildcats marched 70 yards on Power for another score, again by Russell. Bruder missed the try for point.

Again Northwestern received a kickoff and with the start of the second quarter a lateral and two forward passes, Bruder to Hail and Bruder to Oliphant, added another six points. of touchdowns.
