Mr.

Bradley said that full details of the building venture could be explained in the office but he stressed that he does not invite any telephone calls pointing out that a personal call will be necessary to make any definite commitments. The trip to York was prompted by a letter received by Mr. Pud-erbaugh from a federal housing official in Harrisburg who pointed out that a score of homes were being constructed in York for $5,300, and some for $4,700. Pud-erbaugh and Venna were also told by a housing authority from Hollidaysburg that no home in Blair county could be constructed for less than $7,500. After inspecting the York homes in various nhases of enn- I struction and interviewing bricklayers, carpenters, and construction supply dealers, the local housing authorities were convinced that Altoona could also build homes for less than $3,000.

NEEDY CASES Mr. Bradley disclosed that there are more than 800 applicants for homes in the Pleasant valley project and that there are many desperate cases of veterans who can not find a place to live for his family. "A Bellwood veteran lives with his wife and two children in a milk shed, with no heat," Mr. Bradley disclosed, reviewing the hardship cases. The project manager also revealed that since rent controls have been lifted there have been a considerable number of eviction notices given to veterans in dire need of a home for himself and his family.
