The first two years were with the former Los Angeles Stars. He noted that he hadn't been getting much playing time. lately and he was glad "I could show the people that I haven't petered out." His performance Saturday night apparently inspired his teammates. The next day, with 23 points from Miller, they whipped East Division champion Kentucky for the first time in 11 games this season. The 210-pounder from Catesauqua, will be given a laminated copy of his historic box score by the appreciative management which still hopes the fifth-place Cougars can overtake the Floridians in the remaining week of the season and slip into the playoffs.

Forty-eight hours later, he set the American Basketball Association single-game scoring record with a 67-point explosion.

The 6-foot-4 backcourt man scored 67 points in 46 minutes against Memphis and led his club to 139-125 victory over the ABA West Division tailenders. He hit 25 of 40 shots, one a miss from three-point range; connected on 17 of 23 free-throws; grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists. Other Guys Help His period scores were 21-17- 20-9 as he by four points the ABA mark set less than a month before by Utah's Zelmo Beaty against Pittsburgh. "First, let me say how obviously unselfish the rest of the guys were," Miller said after the game. "They went out of their way to give me the ball.

got embarrassed going one-on-one so much, but they kept getting the ball to me." Miller, whose previous high was 47 points, explained his record performance with this notation: AMSTERDAM (AP) Chess officials decided today the world title match between champion Boris Spassky of the Soviet Union and his U.S. Challenger Robert Fischer will begin in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, on June 22.
