OIL CITY Comparative Cultures Week is being held at Venango Christian High School, an ambitious undertaking which has thrown teachers and students into a major project of learning, through action, about other people and their customs. When a trip around the world isn't possible, it could well be that this is the next best thing or perhaps it is a good prerequisite for any indepth study program which involves different countries and their residents. Yesterday things were at a feverish pitch with the setting up of the school for the week's activities. The school has been transformed into patches of other lands and as the students went through the cafeteria line yesterday they were presented with menus with Chinese characters, an illustrated piece on how to eat with chopsticks, and the lunchoen treats: Fon Kare Lot Ju Gnow (beef with tomatoes and green peppers); Bok Fon (boiled rice) and Hunt; Yun Bang (Almond Cookies). The honorable servants for the day were Cindy Brezinski, Kathy Ebbert, Sean Hanna," Carol Heintz, Marilyn Johnson, Bill Kleck, Sue Kowal, Martha Serafin and Kathy Welsh.

The displays are outstanding and indicate considerable research and hunting on the part of students and faculty as they have tracked down throughout the county some authentic pieces from all parts of the world. The library has a special worldwide atmosphere with a UN display, penpals, stamps, coins, dolls, etc. Today's menu is African with chicken in red pepper sauce and Members of the WSCS of Bethel United Methodist Church, Siverly, will sponsor a swiss steak dinner, open to the public, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the church.
