In the one case it is Joshua Hill, and in the Other it is Colonel Farrow. If the first two oontestante art admitted, Mr. Miller's term expires with this Congress. If the last two, Mr. Whitely will only remain till the fourth of March, when he will take the seat in the House to which he has just been elected.

The Democratic Senator, if One be sent here, must be elected by the new Legislature. It is conoeded by those who know the Democratic Senators elect, that they will strengthen their party. Judge Goldthwaite is considered able Kelley, of a good debater and manager; Vance, of North Carolina, is conceded to be able, while Cooper is intellectual, by till accounts on improvement on Ins predecessors; Faulkner, of West Virginia, and Blair, of Missouri, should they be sent here by their party, will add positive strength to the opposition. The Senate, then, as it will stand on the fourth of March next, will have fifty-eight Republicans and sixteen Democrats, while the admission of Colorado, which is deemed probable, will add two to the Republican total. There are twenty-three Senators whose terms expire in 1873, twenty-five in 1875, and twenty-six in 1877.
