Claco, ILThe Cisco and Breckenridge stage driver gave the following facts. this evening; concerettig the tilling of 0141 man Stewart, who was found dead In his horse-lot a few dive ago.

The parties arrested and jailed charged with Committing the murder are Mr. Stewart's wife, daughter, son and nephew. Mr. Crow. It seems that Mrs.

Stewart employed an attorney to defend herself and family, and left her nephew to do the best he could, so he turned State's evidence and told the following tale. On the fatal day Mr. Crow says he was sent to the creek to water an animal, and, on returning. wnen near the lot, he heard a gun fire, and on coming a little nearer he discovered Jim Stewart, son of the murdered man, walking toward his father, who was theta lying on the ground, and the son put a gun near his father's head and fired it again. After Mr.

Crow weut to the hones. Mn. Stewart offered him two horses, a fine saddle and a farm. when Mr. Stewart bad recently puroliased, If he would not tell IL The cause of the trouble has not been developed.

Jim Stewart, the boy who killed his lather, has always been a very bad boy. and at one time stole several of his father's horses, tor widen be was disinnerited. Mr. Stewart was It stockman, and well liked and respected by an his neighbors. A Penitent Young Criminal.

April 12.This morning a ragged boy 35 years old was led before Judge Barr in the United States Court. and said he wanted to plead guilty to robbing a Post Mice In Wnitley County. The youth then broke down, and biding his face in his tattered sleeve wept for awhile as if his heart would break.

He appeared sincerely penitent this morning. The Judge decided not to send him to the committed him to the House of Refuge for three years. Smuggled eigare Seized. NEW YORK, April 12.The Custom 110113e authorities here are making a desperate effort to break up the extensive businese done in smuggling cigars on the steamers running to Cuba and West Indian To-day an extensive seizure of cigars was made. AS soon as the Santiago.arrived in port everything on the vessel was sealed up by the Custom House Mears, who then went through the ship and found concealed in various part 2.669 cigars and seventy-nye bundles of cigareig.es.

The captain yeas sent for and explained that he merely signed the manifest as placed before him by the made it up at Quarantine. The explanation was satisfactory. April 12.The entire day was oocupted in the Haddock murder case by Judge Weaver, of counsel for the aefense, pleading to the jury. Ile reviewed with great weight the theory of a reasonable doubt In connection with--Arensdort's guilt, and claimed for the detendant complete exculpation according to the evidence. Arensdort's career as a citizen and business Mall generally was brought forth with great prominence. and the skill of the lawyer was used with equal vehemence and power in contrasting tuo drunken life Rt the worthless ilismarck and the villain Leavitt. lie claimed that the preponderance or evidence two propositions for its purchase.

FORT SCOTT, April 12.There Is Intense excitement In this city to-night over the discovery of a paying bead of natural gas by Mr. A. H. Campbell; at a point one and quarter miles south and west of the Wilder House, corner. The discovery of gas by Mr.

Campbell about a month ago was rePOrted near the same place. His new well Is about 200 yards from the the gashail been reached at a depth of 22914 feet. The volume flows steady and strong. making a roaring noise that can be heard a fourth of a mile, and when lighted throws Out a flame from forty to fifty feet high. Tnere were previous to this discovery eight flowing welts In the city, which furnished light and beat for a large part of the city during the winter.

By careful observation ana estimates it has been determined by experts that Mr. Campbell's new well flows much more than all the Other wells combined, and Is the strongest well now In-the State. The Economy Gas and Feel Company which controls all of the wells except Mr. Campbell's, has Increased its stock to 000 paid up, and are arranging to commence the boring of nve new wells. The building boom Is now under full headway.

There are now about 50e residences going up in the eity, ana the contract was let to-day for the shops or the St. Louis. Fort Scott auu Wichita Work has also commenced on the new Interstate Hotel, which, when completed, is to cost 175.000. A contract was also closed between property-owners on Scott avenue to commence Immediately the erection of a bfock of baneInas. at a cost of $40.000.

Williams, the Republican Mayor, was duly installed In oMce last night, and Fort Smith has entered upon a career as a city of the first-class. Chas.

H. Eberle was elected City Clerk, but no Chief of Police has been appointed. The street-car contest will likely result In the success or the new companies who are asking for charters. as nine-tenths of the people are in favor of granting charters to all of them on satisfactory terms, and the new Couneit is weU aware of this sentiment. An enthusiastic railroad meeting was held to-night, and considered the question of a bridge over tbe Arkansas River at this point.

On the noon train to-dav wite No. 2 arrived from Parka, ana was again married to Price in tile presence of the-Grand Jury and Court House officials. I Probably Murdered by Tramps. CHICAGO, April dead body or tilt unknown man was found in the wOods on the banks of tile Desplainel River, near the suburban town of Niles Center this morning. The man had been suspended by a rope to the limb of a tree, but the rope had broken anti toe boay uty prostrate on the ground.

The remains were those of a middle-aged men. well areesed and of a cultivated appearance. lie had evidently beemdead only cute or two days. There was notning on his person to identify blui, and the residents entertain the view that he was murdered by tramps. Charged with Murder.

I NASHVILLE, TENN. April Pap- Pentad11er, a peddier from Indianapolis, was murdered, presumably for money. between Tullahoma and Beech GroVe by some unknown person. His head was crushed with a club. 1 STREATOR, -April Andrew Polka anti Steve Robertin, two Hungarians, were engaged in a drunken row, last night, Joun Koval, a son-In-law of the latter, au ter-Toyed and struck Polka over the forehead with a club, from the effects ot which be died at 5 o'clock this morning.

Both Itobertin and Koval are under arrest. Porika BLUFF, Mlles, of this (Butler) county, succeeded in arresting E. W. Wines! wanted in Balls County. this State, for murder, and for wuom a reward of $.109 was offered.

Ttse arrest was made in the lower part of the poutstv; and Sheriff Mlles leaves for Rails t.unty with his prisoner to-night. BOSTON, April Flannigan, who was shot by Dr. Albrecht In.ttie Avery street gaming house. died this morn-lug. It will be remembered that Albrecht.

T. Gale was released front the Prison, after serving a term for attenlpting to rob a sate at Jacksboro. Detective Porter, of this city, made inquiries of Northern authorities and learned that Gale was wanted for robbing a bank at Genesee. N. seven years ago.
