Philadelphia, March 13 Charles E. Voorheee, the well-known member of the legislature, died at 12.30 o'clock this (Friday) morning. Mr. VoorheeB had been ill of pneumonia for some time, and while be was convalescing he had a relapse, a complication cf diseases Betting in. Mr.

Voorhees was born in this city in 1849 and had always been a staunch republican. He was appointed a member of tbe stato senate during the BesBions of 1881 and 18S3 and was elected resident clerk of tbe house of representatives in 1885, serving in this capacity until 1893, when he was elected chief clerk of the house, which position he retained until 1895. He was elected a member of the house in 1896, beirjg re-elected in 1898 and 1900. At the time of hie death he was chief clerk of tbe republican city committee. Brin gUp Deceased was born in Germany, November 14, 1865, and had resided in Altoona for twentv vears.
