i Brethren of the Compass and Square have a Function Distinguished Guests. ASOXS are about the best fellows in the world, anyhow, and when thev meet on the square, the frater nity of the order is always manifest. Henry M. Phillip's Lodge, of this city enjoyed a visita tion Wednesday night. The Jlc- Keesport fraters were decidedly both in it and on it, and at their bidding about one hundred and fifty of the Brotherhood were gathered in Monongahela.

They arrived on the steamer Elizabeth about 8 o'clock, were met at the wharf by Worshipful Master Louttit with an escort committee, and soon the lodge room was filled, every seat taken and "standing room only" to be had at 9:30. The lodge room, in the third story of the Daily Republican building had been decorated by florist Crall. Palms and Accaeia in pots were placed at the several stations, while at the altar, each taper was flanked by a green house plant. Elegant bouquets sur-! rounded each marble top stand, all lending fragrance and beauty to the handsome lixlge room. After the lodge was duly tiled and opened in ancient form.

Junior Warden Charles U. Mc-II vain made an address of welcome, and in graceful speech bade the visitors very welcome. This was responded to by Prof. Shanor, city superintendent, of the schools of McKeesport. During the evening addresses were made by several of the brethern, an hour was spent in social intercourse.

The ceremonies being concluded at 11 o'clock. Kev, Thomas N. Boyle. D. asked at-j tention, and presented to Charles t.

Mcllvain, a past-master's jewel, a gift from his lodge for service. The jewel is the ordinary Masonic emblem for that office, cast in solid silver, beau-! tifully chased and engraved with his name, rank and date of presentation, It was received by the past master in words fitting and in evident appreciation. Frank Burlingame, of Mt. Mor-j ris. New York, then sang, "We meet upon the Level and we part upon the Square." and Maj.

Swords closed the lodge in peace and harmony, Chill W. Hazzard who had been ap-' pointed master of the ceremonies at- tending the banquet, then invited the visitors to a fruit supper spread in the Landefeld Armory, and a procession was formed which moved two by two to that hall. The supper was prepared hy Bro. H. C.

Sutman, and was a chef-d oevre. The menu as follows: FjteiT sepFEij; Water Mellon, Bannanns, Apples, Peaehes, Oranges. Tears, Apricots, Plums, Grapes, Pine-apples, Cantelope9. REMOTES. lee Cream, Lemon Ice, Cake, Maecaroon, Coffee, Crackers, cheene, Segues.

The supper was nicely served on dainty linen, with china and silver, by careful and attentive waiters and was enjoyed to the utmost. When the segars were lit Toast Master Hazzard called to order, and in turn introduced the following speakers: Rev. Alexander Laird, of Glasgow, Scotland, now pastor of the Presbyterian church at Buena Vista, Rev. X. Boyle, D.

Rev, S. Watson, of Greensburg, Prof. Shanor, Major Swords, of McKeesport, Isaiah Phillips, of West Elizabeth, Albert Walker, of Elizabeth, James E. Andre, formerly president of McKeesport city councils, B. Frank Harrison, of McKeesport, Christopher Horax, of Wiimei'ding, Mayor Nicholson, of Monongahela, and Henry Louttit, of the local Masonic lodge.

The responses were filled with wit and humor, and many a laugh went round the table at happy hit or well timed rapartee. THE MANY VISITORS.
