(AP) The FBI said it is investigating reports that $150,000, dispatched by a Miami Springs bank to one in Santiago, Chile, disappeared in transit Wednesday. Agents said the sum reportedly left Curtis National Bank in a sealed valise and was transported aboard a Braniff Air Lines plane that made stops at Panama and Lima, Peru. The valise was found to contain only wads of newspaper when its seal was broken at Continental Bank in Santiago, the agents said.
