highways The patrol went on the highways July 15 and up to August 1 they had given assistance to 2295 motorists who were in some kind of trouble on the roads in addition they rendered first aid to 12 motorists who had sustained injuries on the road One of the best activities was the re moval of obstructions from the high ways The 60 patrolmen found 730 of mese Destructions any one oi wmen might have caused an accident some of them possibly serious All were re moved Written warnings were given to 4 606 motorists who were either driving vehicles that were defective or who were driving contrary to safety rules regulations and the state highvay safety law This means that instead of arresting motorists so the patrol man could make a record these pa trolmen gave the motorists warnings In most instances the motorist were directed to have some repairs made such as lights or brakes They were given cars which the mechanic mak ing the repairs had to sign and mail to Commissioner Gentry Then there were 170 other minor activities all contributing toward making the high way safer lar and special sessions a total of $7 750000 Relief and hospitalizatimi for Soldiers got $484500 of which
