Uenl Passenger At, I Lawraaoe. Kansaa Bo.is, Shoes, Rub lliMs er of the Round Top Farm, iavoreu The Journal office with a pleasant call. The Kound Top Farm is some nine miles northwest of this city. Mr- B. is an enthusiastic Kansas iarmerdiiu savs this is the state for agricultural pursuits.

The immense amount oi ground seeded besides other work done by Mr. liarbour anu nis uuvu seem almost imposible to the eastern farmer. Beginning eany uus he turned over nine acres of prairie sod; broke the ground and put in ninety acres of corn, most of which is ai- reaay up anu is uuv -r -edten acres of ground to oats, which are doing finely, iiiey ua put up a large amount of fencing, put in their gardens, set out an orchard and are nearly through grubbing out ten large cottonwood trees which stood in the fields. Besides doing this, Mr. Barber has put in 16 acres of corn for a neighbor who was behind with his spring work.

Of course it takes "rustling" to get through with such an amount of work, but Mr. Barbour was formerly an Indiana farmer and he says it has cost him less and has taken less work to put in ninety acres of corn nn his Round Ton Farm than it did to break the ground and plant thirty acres in Indiana. Again we say Mr. Barbour is a "rustler" and four o'clock in the finds him out ready for the riav'a work during the busy season Such men are a credit to any state nd Kansas stands ready to welcome such farmers, always favoring their goodly efforts with success. Judging from the conduct of those politicians who are engineering Farm er Smith's campaign, it is intended that his nomination shall be a rebuke to Senator Ingalls. Just as soon as this fact becomes generally known, Mr. Smith's arewell will be in order. The President has appointed Hon. M.

117, of this city, had the largest number or members present and made the best allowing of any organization in line. A special excursion as run over the So. Kan, Kv. from this city to Cherryvale in order to accomodate those who wished to attend the celebration. Two coaches tilled with ladies and gentleman, went up in the morning, and a number of persons followed on the later trains.

The cars were gayly decorated and the sides were covered with bunting and banners containing the name of the lodge and its location. The Famous Band accompanied the Coffeyvilie Lodge, and their music and the fine appearance, and gentlemanly deportment of the members, drew many favorable comments to this crack organization. We of Coffeyvilie are justly proud of our band and orchestra, and with a little more practlee and some additional instruments, the Famous will be fully justified in wearing the title its name indicates, lhe parade was a success and was skilfully handled by Marshal Smith, a whole-souled Odd- Fellow. At the Opera House, in the afternoon, the programme was carried out to tiie iuiiest extent. Tli vast building was literally packed with an I with an intelligent and highly appreciative audience.

The exercises were under the direction of Hon. C. A. Mitchell. chairman of the committee, who per formed his work well and had much to do with the success of the meeting.

Our men know how to portray the ritualistic beauties of Odd Fellowship as well as to practice its teachings.

Their efforts on this occasion received the hearty encomiums of the brethren present. Cof feyvilie has a team that is second to none in that line of work. The ladies of the Presbyterian church furnished a splendid meal for twenty- nve cents, winch was liberally patron ized. As ususal, they gave fifty cents worth of good food for a quarter. We hope that they made some money, nev ertheless.

The train for Coffeyvilie leit at about one ciock, bearing upon it a large, enthusiastic, tired but per fectly sober and well pleased lot of men and women. At Liberty we part ed with our mends irom that city, and a good, jolly and genial set of men they were. We greatly enjoyed their company and friendship. Altogether the day was a grand one for the order in this section of the State. Next year the anniversary meeting win be held at uswego.
