The Aztec Frosh trailed only once Saturday night as it gained a 62-57 victory over Palomar at the Vista High School gym. The Comets now have a 6-11 season record. Team Effort The game was an all-around team effort for Palomar with Duane Barnes and Ray Bosch leading the Comet scorers with 18 and 16 points respectively. San Diego scored the opening basket on a set shot by Ron Arm-hrust. Center Ted Wackerman put Palomar in front with a lay up and a foul shot, but then the Comets couldnt buy a basket and San Diego quickly ran up a 10-4 lead.

Barnes scored with a layup and then stole the ball to repeat the performance while Ray Bosch hit a foul shot to make the score 14-9, but once again the Comets missed several straight scoring opportunities and San Diego ran up a 22-11 lead. Palomar's defense tightened up to hold the opposition to just three points in the last min utes while Bosch, Barnes and Fred Gross hit with field goals and the halftime score stood at 25-19. Froth Hot The Comets bounced bade at the start of the second half with a jump shot by Bosch anJ a layup by Barnes and pulled to within two points of the leaders. Idaho Gains Second Spot The upstart Idaho Vandals, however, happily exchanged places with the Beavers and moved to within a half game of Cal and UCLA by dropping Oregon, 81-76, at Moscow'. Oceanside, Es condido and San Dieguito, all tied for first with 5-1 records, are ex pected to remain in that tie thru Tuesday.
