Local Girl Wins Honor Roll Place WHITTIER Marjorie L. Raney, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Charles B. Raney of Escondido, was one of 88 students named to the Whittier College Ilonof Roll for outstanding academic achievement during the second semester of the 1953 54 school year. Her fiance is a graduate of Storm Lake High School class of 1949 and is now engaged in ranching in Iowa, No date has been set for the wedding, Diana Gordon Becomes Bride of Alvin Cords In Informal Rites Diana Gordon of Escondido, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Gordon of Tampa, became the bride of Alvin L. Cords of Winnamac, Saturday afternoon.

The informal double-ring rites were read by Rev. Ciell Gray in the parsonage of the First Methodist Church. The young couple are now motoring to San Francisco where they will reside for a month. The bridegroom, soon to be discharged from the service, is stationed at Oakland. The couple will make their home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

For her wedding, the former Miss Gordon wore a blue street length dress of nylon and pima cotton styled with a bouffant skirt, draped eollarlcss bodice and three-quarter length sleeves. She wore a matching blue hat with a half veil which was trimmed in rhinestones. She fastened a pink rosebud corsage to the shoulder of her dress. Mrs. Abie Gordon of Escondido, sister-in law of the bi ide, was her matron of honor and also gave her in marriage.

She wore a green linen sheath dress with white accessories and had a yellow rosebud corsage. Linda Lee Gordon, niece of the bride, was frocked in green ami white organdy and carried a basket of tiny flowers for her role as flowergirl. Mrs. Soltau will remain there while Dr. Soltau goes to Salt Lake City for a two week conference on Group Dynamics Aug. 14 27. They will return to Escondido by the end of August.
