Grain, Livestock Market Report for FLURRY OF SELLING UNSETTLES MARKET IN FINAL DEALINGS Strong Rally Occurs in Sterling Exchange; Tone at Close Is Weak New York, July stock market encountered a mild selling flurry in the last hour of trading Friday, after drifting uncertainly, with a somewhat heavy undertone, during most of the day. An encouraging development in the international situation was a strong rally in sterling exchange after the foreign markets had closed, but it was not until $20,000,000 more in gold had been lost by the Bank of England. The closing tone was weakish. Sales were close to 1,000,000 shares. Earnings statements now apoearing in large numbers continue, in the aggregate, somewhat better than expected.

The leading steel companies quarterly earnings are not expected to contain pleasant surprises, however. Produce Markets Chicago, July had an easy tone today and prices ranged lower under heavier receipts and light buying. Eggs were also easy and were quoted steady to lower. Poultry ruled easier. Maryiend Western Union THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, FRIDAY. JULY 24, 1931 SPECULATORS ARE CAUTIOUS; WHEAT TENDS DOWNWARD Transactions, at Chicago Are Less Than Half of Last Week's Volume Chicago, July Buffering from a striking curtailment of speculative demand, wheat went steadily downward Friday. Pit transactions amounted to lees than half the volume of a week ago. Export business was also slack, with Argentina and Australia capturing the bulk and North America doing little. Wheat closed unsettled, 1-2 to lc lower, July 53 to 53 l-8c; December 57 to 57 l-8c; corn unchanged to 1 l-4c off, July 58c, December 44 1-2 to 5-Bc, oats showing 3-8 to 7-8 decline, and provisions unchanged to 59c setback.

Acting as a further weight on wheat values was an explicit denial by President Milnor of the government-sponsored grain stabilization corporation that the corgiration was negotiating with New York grain dealers for purchase of the corporation's entire holdings of about 250,000,000 bushels of wheat. He said the corporation had no negotiations for wholesale disposal of its holdings at this time. Meanwhile, reports were current that cheaper Canadian and Russian offerings were being received at Liverpool. Com prices developed relative strength at times. Complaints that some corn in lowa was attracted notice.

Oats sympathized with wheat rather than corn. MINNEAPOLIS TRADE IS QUIET AND FEATURELESS Minneapolis, July Trade was quiet and featureless through the early part the session Friday but before the close pessimism regarding the German debt situation caused a general decline. Corn was down a cent, for September delivery and oats while rye declined and barley Flax was hard to buy and closed unchanged to higher. July wheat futures closed He lower, September lower, and December lower. Cash wheat demand was good but, new samples are coming freely and mill bids are easing a little.

Durum was scarce again. Winter wheat was firm and in fair demand. Com demand was good for types but the market was unsettled. Oats demand was quiet. Rye demand was fair but a little slow.

Barley was in fair demand and strong in tone. Flax offerings were light and in good demand. Livestock SO. ST. PAUL LIVESTOCK South St, Paul, July iO.

SCOUTS BEGINNING TO BE ENTHUSIASTIC Camping Trip to Black Hills and Yellowstone Crowing More Interesting Bismarck Boy Scouts who are on a camping trip to the Black Hills and the Yellowstone National park, are beginning to enthuse over their venture. Here are two pages from the group's diary received by The Tribune, to which they are reporting their experiences. July 19. After traveling all day through dust that looked like a snowstorm, Troop No. 2 has finally reached Belle Fourche on the edge of the Black The dust yesterday was so heavy that at the end of the trip, which was from Medora to Belle Fourche, the boys looked more like African natives than white people.

The journey held little of interest excepting the view of a prairie dog colony north of Buffalo and the pros pect of shower baths at the beautiful new tourist camp at Belle Fourche. After the trip through wind-swept country with scarcely a tree all day, the camp looked good to the boys with its clean wooded grounds and running water. Jiggs Boelter got in trouble the other night while prowling around after taps and walked off a ten-foot bank backwards. John Wrlgnt was the only contented one on the Saturday trip. He spent the entire day pretending he was a big-game hunter, with his gun (a tent pole) constantly waving In the faces.

Sunday morning the boys attended a church service in Belle Fourche and left for Deadwood, the next camping place, early in the afternoon. July 20. The trip becomes more interesting each day. Today we made a side trip to the Orman dam, said to be the largest earthern dam In the world. This was a great novelty to all of us.
