Entertainment Lancaster rMusic 10 Friday, Jul? 17.2009 Kenny Loggins lightens up for latest album Singer-songwriter brings old favorites and new songs for the family to AMT Kenny Loggins will perform at the American Music Theatre tonight. but this time I want it to be This, Loggins admitted, made him "a little nervous." "I was afraid the up-tempo thing would force me into a kind of record that would be too kiddy," he said. But it didn't. And the reason, Ixtggins said, was the quality of the songs, both his own, and those of other songwriters. "By picking really cool material that I loved, and doing it in a way that the production values were more adult, but still maintaining a light-hearted quality that the kids would love, it works," he said.

The result is an easy-listening album featuring Randy New- man's "You've Got A Friend In "Come Go With Me," the Del Vikings' 1950s hit and "You Can All Join In," by Traffic and which, on Loggins' LP, he is joined by ex-Traffic member Dave Mason, who also wrote the song. Since Loggins calls "All Join In" a family album, his 11-year-old daughter Hana joins him, along with some of her friends. "You can feel their exuber ance all through the record," Loggins said. The kids join Loggins in the whimsical Donovan hit, "There Is A Mountain," and the light-hearted John LennonVPaul McCartney ditty "All Together Now." LennonMcCartney appear again on the album with "Two Of Us," which Loggins sings with Jim Messina. Next month Loggins and Messina will team up again for a three-month tour, making about 40 stops.

At each, they will perform their hits, including "Your Momma Don't Dance." But don't expect anything new. "People come for the nostalgia," Loggins said. "They come to hear the old tunes and relive those moments and that's what I think the show is about." E-mail: lalexanderlnpnews.com BY LARRY ALEXANDER StafTWriter From "Footloose" to the "House On Pooh Corner," singersongwriter Kenny Loggins has been making music for all ages for over 30 years. Tonight, Loggins, one-half the pop 1970s duo of Loggins Messina, will take the stage of the American Music Theatre. For the most part, Loggins will perform songs from his vast array of hits, many of which come from film soundtracks.

These would include "Fcxjtloose," from the show of the same name, as well as "Playing With the Boys" from "Top Gun" and "Nobody's Fool," which is better remembered than the movie it appeared in, "Caddyshack II." Fans can also expect to hear "House On Pooh Corner," which he wrote in 1970 to celebrate the birth of his son, Luke. But Loggins will also highlight his new album, "All Join In," which is set for a July 21 release. "It's very different from anything I've ever done before," Ijggins said last week during a phone interview. The album, he said, was motivated by David Agnew, president of Walt Disney Records, on whose label it appears. Agnew, IJggins said, "raised his kids" on "Return to I louse On ftxih Corner" and "More Songs From Pxh Corner," which I)ggins calls family music rather than children's albums.

"He really got what I was trying to do, which was to make music that the parents would love as much as the children," Loggins said. "So he called me and said I really want you to do it again, Music for Everyone lives up to its name on Music Friday Music starts around 6:30 (You know how musicians are) and ends around 9.
