5 Decoration Program to be Held at Paw Paw, Sunday, May 17. Following is the announcement of the annual decoration program whichjvill be. rendered at. Pawpaw cemetery, May 17, 1914, The committee have made arrang- ments for a good list, of speakers and good singing. A basket dinner will also be a feature of the occasion.

Three. To the voters of Commissioner District No, three: I have fully decided to make the race for County Commissioner in the 3rd district and ask you to" consider my application. came to this county about 17 years ago and I have never regretted my move. The good people I have met have made it a pleasant piace for me-to live. This is the first time I have ever asked the good people to cast, their lots in my behalf.

I would like to be commissioner from the third district arid I know of no than to get in the race and ask.the voters to vote for me. -I have been solicited by many of the very best- couraged by others to make the race. I do.not believe in making a lot of promises in order to be elected, "because promises made many "of them, will not fit into the general rotine of official duty. I think I know.the heeds of-this county and, if) am' elected, will use every effort to make a good commissioner and cause to regret voting for me. I am well known by many of the people of the district and I believe my best friends are those who know me best.

I do not being partial. I be lieve that the cdunty comjnissioner should look after the interest! of every nian in the county alike. What wewant is to make Sequoyah county a better place in which to live, arid if I am elected I will do my best to make it that. TAYLOR. J. merchant at Roland, was here on business Wednesday. W. Payne and Mrs.

S. A. Goodman 'of Sallisaw, visited in Muldrow Wednesday. Cyrif Levy returned' home from Saint Louis yesturday. He will likely spend the summer here.

James A. Taylor, of Maple was here Wednesday morning in the interest of his race for commissioner from this district. Supt. Dodson was here Wednesday morning his way to Holts Chapel school.which held its closing exercises that aftgrnoon. in Clarksville, with relatives.

His cousin, Ola Park, was seriously ill with heart trouble but is reported better now. Jess-Jeremiah sold his stock of groceries to rotter and the. goods were shipped toMcKey Mr. Jeremiah and faimly will depart Friday for. Palrno, to make their.future home.

The following jurors from this place were surrimoned for service in the District Court, which convened, in Sallisaw Moriday: Robt. E. Lee, Robt. Faulkner, Frank Gammell, Will Jeremiah, C. H.Holland, and G.

A. Payne. At a regular meeting of the- town, tees'Monday night the office of town marshal was filled by the re-appointment of Morgan Newman. The place for Superintendent of the'water and light plant been, filled. Mosby Fordr of this pladfes and W.

C. Ashbrook of Sallisaw have made application for the place. At the school election held Tuesday, J.W.Goodman was re-elected as a member of the board. J. J.

Mabray also ran. The teachers for next year have not been employed yet but it is generally understood that Supt. Battles will -be- retained and Alonzo Miller and -Mrs. W. A.

Battles will hold their same position next year. 1 The Johnston bloodhounds won another victory Sunday in tracking down 2 negro thieves who had broken into a hardware store at Talihina Saturday night. The trail was fourteen hours old and the dogs worked slow until they came to a camp where the negros had spent the night. From there the dogs worked fast and soon came upon one of the negros standing in waiter up to his neck. He had' followed the creek for about six miles and said he had waded and swam half that distance.

The other negro was seen to board a train and was captured at Albion. A posse of about 100 accompained the officers and all declared they had never seen dogs work better. A.E. live at Inola. The mother has been visiting here with- her parents the past month. Mr. Avers came down Tuesday night to see the mother and son.

The dedication 1 of the new cotirt' house was held last Monday and a splendid time enjoyed by all- Whatever else may be said of the Sequoyah bounty court house, it is an admitted fact that it is a handsome structure, one that was needed and built at a reasonable figure and paid for by taxation on the property of the county. Bonds that were issued four'years ago to pay off the county; indebtedness were used in paying a large per" cent of thadebt. Those from here who attended the Sequoyah'County Scholastic meet at Sallisaw last Friday and Saturday report a most interesting time and splendid work, by the pupils. Muldrow school captured many prizes which is very gratifying teachers, patrons, and pupils. As a whole the meet was beyond expectations and already arrangements and plans are being made for next.year's meet.
